He suffered from an unusual genetic defect where hair only grew on his right side. He had corrective surgery in 1966, which went wrong, and he grew hair all over his face, eyes and forehead, which was corrected with a successful second surgery a year later.

Thanks to everyone who shared or bought things over the last few days. The vet this morning was lovely, they have taken him in and put him on a drip for the day and are testing for various things. She was guarded, no one is sure whats wrong, but it could be something fixable still so fingers crossed
