The years RATM mattered almost exactly coincided with my time in the military, when its biggest operations involved successfully stopping genocides with the framework of international cooperation, which you gotta admit is funny in retrospect. Especially since lots of those troops blasted RATM 24/7

Yeah, XCOM 2 especially had that infiltrate & ambush gameplay element which you don't get here. Battletech let you constantly tinker with new robots and loadouts and career mode was wide open. Zero Company is *good*, but definitely short of an all-time great.

Cons, continued: -The missions can get a little same-y at times -Some of the missions drag, especially when there are a lot of enemies that power up every time you kill or injure one of them, over and over But this is small potatoes, game good, get game, do Star War.

Cons, continued: -The facial animations are real bad, especially for Hawks if you customize their appearance -There are side missions, but you don't get to do much "side questing" before being forced to do a story mission -Kind of a system hog while looking very average

Pros, continued: +Music, voice acting, sound effects all excellent +Star Wars vibes (laudatory) +No serious bugs Cons: -The base building, character progression and equipment progression systems are just sort of there. Levelling things up feels inconsequential; too much "number go up 1%" stuff.

Finished Star Wars: Zero Company Let's call it 4/5 stars 40 hours to beat the campaign Pros: +Good XCOM-like turn based tactics gameplay with characters having a good variety of abilities to differentiate them. +More & better story and characters than I was expecting (think Mass Effect-lite).
