I have a (very small!) role on TV3’s election special tomorrow (Wednesday) talking about climate change and infrastructure It’s a live show from 7pm looking at the big future challenges facing our country - at the end a panel of political leaders respond to the issues #nzpol #FuturesThinking

“And I’d do it again”. Incorrigible. #nzpets
A petite black cat, with a fetching white chest patch, bright golden eyes and impressively cobby build (she’s half British Blue, and half opportunistic tabby scoundrel, hence a bargain and a rogue) caught mid-way through sharpening her lethal claws on a favourite midcentury armchair, the little beast. Her ears are back and she has an unblinking stare: an absolutely impenitent recidivist, already plotting her next attack on the furniture, even though there are perfectly good and heavily used scratching trees right outside. Those are different, apparently.

Apparently good economic management involves increasing unemployment until one in six young people are out of work, poor, and increasingly disenfranchised. Is this 'building the future'? Would 'fixing the basics' not involve fixing this disaster?

#nzpol The fact that the current coalition deliberately undermined initiatives to reduce our vulnerability to shocks like this ought to be a far bigger deal than it is.
