Got these photos from Greene County sources who say they were taken this morning. The photos have changed hands enough times that they lack metadata, but landmarks in the images suggest they're just outside Creekside Ranches off Preddy Creek Road. www.google.com/maps/place/R...

On a rural road, a dark gray Hyundai hatchback is either turned or stopped in the opposite lane, in front of either three vehicles from the Greene County Sheriff's Office, or two sheriff's vehicles -- a cruiser up front and a white transport van behind -- surrounding a third white vehicle. One sheriff's deputy is visible, standing in front of the open door of the cruise. A second figure who may either be a deputy or an ICE agent, dressed in quasi-military gear, stands near the driver's door of the white van. Signs in the image identify this as Preddy Creek Road, with a sign advertising Ryan Homes's Creekside development.

In a second photo, the gray Hyundai is no longer in frame, and it seems clearer that two sheriff's vehicles have surrounded a third white SUV-type vehicle.

Meeting wraps up. Heard productive and interesting things; still think this was a clunky format for engagement. My takeaway: flood the comments with calls for a shared use path/protected bike lane. It's doable, possible, and still a needle that can be moved.

My short thesis for a better Eastern Ave design: Make the road safe enough that a kid will feel safe riding their bicycle to see a friend, and a parent will feel reasonably confident & comfortable sending their kids to ride bikes to see friends, go to Crozet Park, ride to school, or get ice cream

It’s actually too bad most local media outlets think routine meeting coverage is boring because you could have answers to things like this! In Charlottesville and Albemarle, the school boards discuss and vote on calendars, usually annually, at their meetings that no reporters attend nowadays.

Hey, the roundabout is complete.

Roundabout at the Route 240/250/680 intersection

COMPLETE

Construction of the roundabout at the intersection of Route 240 (Three Notched Road), Route 250 (Rockfish Gap Turnpike) and Route 680 (Browns Gap Turnpike) is complete. The intersection, located near Crozet, was reconstructed as a four-leg, single-lane roundabout. Using HSIP funds, the roundabout improves traffic safety and more efficiently moves traffic through the busy intersection. The nearby Route 680 bridge over Lickinghole Creek was replaced concurrently with this roundabout project.

My stretch of stopping at lemonade stands continues. The only reason I went to the bank a few weeks ago was to get some ones out so I could stop whenever I see kids at a lemonade stand. (although they really should be inside.)
