Again, there are already laws against this. They're just not being taken seriously. In Canada should be a dedicated RCMP unit, not just for politicians but all people who get threats online, to track down and charge the perps (those that aren't bots).

Dear USA; European countries also have a military. They also have police with weapons. They didn’t vote for the billionaire class and they are not happy with the direction their countries are headed. What they don’t do is sit, watching sports all weekend and complain on social media. Just sayin.

Trump discussing a strike on Yemen and saying, "We’re going to look at it... we move very quickly" as the US is moving all its aircraft out of the Middle East and Europe because he can't keep the jets safe is scary. The next step when he can't fight a war anywhere is to fight the US citizens.

American jurisprudence is a nightmare. It is simply impossible for me to imagine a court in Canada going along with this, yet in the US it seems likely. (Not impossible for me to imagine a government trying it here though)

Jessica Cantu Vuittonet, who runs a coffee shop in San Benito, Texas, cast her first ballot in 2024 — for Donald Trump. Two years later, after her brother was deported, she feels angry and betrayed.

Ariel Salinas, who owns a construction company in McAllen, Texas, can no longer reliably find laborers for his work crews. He blames the president’s immigration policies for his financial headaches.

And Luis Cabrera, a pastor who once mobilized his congregation in Harlingen, Texas, to vote for Republican candidates, is now trying to keep Hispanic evangelicals from giving up on voting altogether.

The National Post is using language that seems wildly irresponsible and dangerous here Citing ancient “Jewish law,” it labels Avi Lewis as a “rodef” The ultranationalist extremist who assassinated Yitzhak Rabin rationalized his killing on the same basis: www.theguardian.com/world/2020/o...
None of this applies, however, when a Jewish person presents a clear and present danger to the Jewish community. When that happens, Jewish thought is much more forceful: you must prevent the perpetrator from
causing harm.

Jewish law developed two character sketches to describe such scenarios. The first is known as a "mosar" — a Jewish person who informs to oppressive
authorities, potentially leading to the imprisonment, torture or death of community members. The second, called a "rodef," refers to a Jew who is actively pursuing another with the intent to harm or kill them. In both scenarios, the law is clear that a Jew is duty-bound to step in. Protecting the community and its members is the most important thing. It was around then that Yigal Amir, an earnest law student, made up his mind to kill the prime minister. Later he would insist he was not swayed by extremist rabbis; he had reached his own decision that Rabin - through his willingness to cede territory and to allow the creation of a Palestinian Authority, with its own armed police force - was a rodef and therefore a legitimate target. He got a weapon easily enough. With his brother, Amir was working on the creation of an anti-Palestinian militia. Nor was access difficult; on at least three occasions before the rally, Amir attended public events where Rabin was present. He was waiting for the right moment: he didn't want to shoot and miss.
