@hfalcke I hear you. I tend to unfollow accounts that post or re-post too much. It lets me hear the smaller accounts better. Then, I still follow some that post some "big" stories, but in a more curated way. I might be missing your point. But I mean that having better control over what you see […]

@hfalcke I don't have time to read everything, nor do I like the urge to do so. I think of this format or media as a magazine whwre I pick the editors, some of the writers, some of the topics, and I dip in and out of it. It is certainly not a great format for: "What is popular" "What is […]

English-speaking followers! WAIT! *STORY TIME* A few years ago, I met a producer who asked me if I was tempted by the idea of writing for TV, and offered to talk about it around a drink. I spent the whole week thinking about it, took some notes, played a thousand scenes in my head…

We need to stop associating people like this with Jewishness. It does so much damage to the religion. They are deluded people of largely Northern European ancestry with tenuous links to the middle east approx 20 to 200 generations ago, and a belief system frozen in the 1930s, who want to […]

Anyone fancy appealing to the ASAI adstandards.ie, against companies selling Artificial "Intelligence"? It's a marketing term, and so existing marketing regulation should be applied.

Text taken from the preamble of the Advertising Standards Authority Code 7th edition, found here https://adstandards.ie/asa-code/

"Title: The Essence of Good Advertising

Paragraph: All marketing communications should be legal, decent, honest and truthful and should not mislead the consumer.

Paragraph: All marketing communications should be prepared with a sense of responsibility both to the consumer and to society.

Paragraph: All marketing communications should conform to the principles of fair competition as generally accepted in business.

Title: The Essence of the Code

Paragraph: The Code is applied in the spirit as well as in the letter.

Paragraph: The Code rules are indivisible; advertisers should comply, where appropriate, with all rules."

@gilduran.com "super intelligence"... If that's the latest buzzword I welcome it wholeheartedly as the best way to undermine the whole affair.

@samueljohnson I don't think the UK is a good benchmark. Not where I'd want my country to be... Surpluses are great for rainy day spending, sure, if that's well planned. 🙄 But not all and not always, right? You need infrastructure, improvements in number and scope of public services... I know […]

Ricardo Segurado @rcrdsgrd.mastodon.ie.ap.brid.gy · 10/09/2026

@bodhipaksa Yes it's a spiral that drags all society down. I very much like that a number of European countries have largely avoided it. Although even they could do better...! It's neoliberalism, but I'm not sure how helpful a label is for overcoming it. 60-year old politicians here grew up in […]
