Reading about pushups will not make you better at doing pushups without you getting on the ground and pushing up! It's the same with comics! You can do it but you have to DO IT!

If you, an aspiring comic creator, are reading all the people saying "just start" and thinking "oh but they don't mean me," yes we do. This is your sign. You don't have to post it anywhere or even show your friends, but you do need to begin.

It's about time I made a promo post: my original comic Cursed Book Club is live! We got books, we got curses, we got horror and paranoia and TWEEN PROTAGONISTS 😱 Read online at cursedbookclub.the-comic.org Updates Mondays! #art #comic #cursedbookclub

Cover page for Cursed Book Club. It features two girls standing in front of a brick wall, with a security camera in the background emanating a strange pink aura as it watches them. The girl on the left is Diana, who has shoulder-length brown hair and is wearing a t-shirt and jeans. She holds a book with a red cover that appears to be sending particles into the air, and is looking back at her sister, concerned. The girl on the right is Emily, who has wavy blonde hair and is wearing a cropped jacket, red skirt, and black leggings. She is holding her head and has her eyes tightly shut.

The title is in shaky bold letters at the top. Text boxes read "Issue 1" and "Smile for the Camera..."

Absolutely still in denial that #BraveAnimatedSeries season 2 is already over... so here's a small drawing celebrating Sage (nee Main Brave)'s character growth. #art #spoilers

Fanart of Main Brave/Sage. Main Brave (back) is a young man with blue hair, wearing a blue cape and wrist guards. He is holding a sword tightly and is looking uncertainly towards the viewer. Sage (front) is the same young man, he is now wearing a blue collared shirt and striped tie. He looks more confident and cocky. He is making a pinching gesture with his hand and a currency symbol floats above his fingers.

Have at thee (if you wanna, no pressure)!

A reference sheet for Sisu, a humanoid character with paper white skin and blue hair, and a blue gemstone on her chest. She is wearing a sheer sparkly top, a deep purple corset and choker, and a flowy blue skirt with many frilly petticoats visible underneath. She also has yellow calf-length boots, purple socks, and a gold tiara and earrings. She is winking and blowing a kiss. Additional sketches show her hair is braided in the back, and she has a crescent-shaped band of blue makeup over her eyes.
Text on the image reads: "Sisu (Diva Blue), she/her. Literal dream girl. Punches nightmares in the face. Kind of a workaholic."
Y/N: "How many petticoats do you want?" Sisu: "Yes"
"Outfits for days, go wild. Hair from behind. Makeup."
Signature in the bottom corner reads "rcbirdy for Art Fight"

And ArtFight 2025 part 2~

Drawing of a person with wing-shaped ears and fluffy hair floating in the air. She has a big smile and is wearing a frilly white shirt and pumpkin-shaped shorts with shoulder straps. Two long glowing orange pigtails extend from the back of her head and coil through the air behind her. She is drawing a spiral of glitter in the air, and more glitter circles her head.

Drawing of a seal-person looking up. She has short hair that floats as if in water, and many white whiskers extending from her face. She is smiling gently. The background is dappled with light and circular shapes, suggesting bubbles.

Rachel @rcbirdy.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

I'm late but whatever, ArtFight 2025 (part 1)~

A drawing of an octopus-person wearing a green suit and black top hat. She is holding a small shrimp-person in her tentacle hand. The shrimp-person is dressed in a pink dress and sun hat with a big bow on the back. The shrimp-person is reaching up to give the octopus-person a kiss. A pink heart and a green heart float in the background.

A drawing of an orange dog-person wearing a red and blue parti-color outfit with matching knee-high boots and dark glasses. Her hair is floating upwards like fire. She has one leg raised to step on a pile of books and is reaching towards the viewer with one hand. The background has red splatters. Text on the image reads "let's take ibuprofen together."

A drawing of a lion-person with red eyes, dark blue hair and a light blue beard sitting on a surfboard in the ocean. He is wearing a light green swimsuit and several water drops are falling off him. He is looking over his shoulder at the setting sun.

I have no idea what's happening but that will not stop me! #makeaterriblecomicday2025

A six panel comic showing the artist attempting to make a comic.
Panel 1: The artist is sitting in front of a computer displaying the words "#makeaterriblecomicday". Artist: "Oh cool! IDK what this is but I want in!"
Panel 2: The artist looks excited, with stars in the background. Artist: "Gonna make a COMIC!!!"
Panel 3: A close-up of the artist's hand holding a tablet pen. Artist: "...About what though?"
Panel 4: The artist's inner editor, represented by a square with a red X in the middle, appears with a poof. The artist looks troubled. Editor: "Aha it's me! The villain of this day!" Artist, weakly: "Nooo"
Panel 5: The editor's eyes bug out as it punches at the air with a starburst behind it. Editor: "I will shoot down ALL the ideas!" Text on the side of the panel reads "h/t hyperbole and a half".
Panel 6: The editor laughs loudly in the background, while the artist turns away and sheds a single tear. Artist: "Alas... I could not make a-- WAIT"

Bro, you can't take media that's fucking around with conventional tropes and "subvert" it by doing the most obvious twist. The most obvious twist on a 180 is the full 360, and now you're back where you started. You twisted all the way around to being conventional again.

Happy #webcomicday everyone~ My latest is still in the works, but I've got a bunch of one-shot stories at birdys24hcd.thecomicseries.com/archive/ if you want to check them out! (My favorites are Hook and Olaf Hits the Dragon with His Sword, previews below.)

A comic book page showing a car driving down a road in the middle of the night. Massive pine trees are on both sides of the road, and a full moon can be seen in the sky. The title is curved to follow the road, and reads "Hook: A 24-Hour Comic by rcbirdy."

A comic book page showing two figures discussing a dragon.
Panel 1: The dragon sits on a ruined battlefield, breathing fire and holding a defeated soldier in its claws. Emil narrates: "We have been beset by the dragon for nearly fifty years now. No matter what force is brought against it, it cannot be defeated. The bounty now placed upon it is surely cursed..."
Panel 2: Emil looks at his companion, concerned. "Olaf, you cannot hope to defeat it alone!"
Panel 3: Olaf sits quietly, not meeting Emil's eyes. Emil's hand rests on his shoulder.
Panel 4: Olaf closes his eyes. He remembers a scene of a village burned to the ground, flaming buildings and bodies in the background. A younger Olaf kneels over one body in particular. "No... you are correct. That is not my wish."

There is no hard cut-off point where you will feel like a "real adult." Instead you slowly gain confidence and life experience that will allow you to do things you didn't think were possible when you were younger, like ask for help or say "no I'm not doing that."

Not a dunce, I just got back from my local comics shop and they had a guide at the front door explaining how it works so you're not alone! The comics are made special for FCBD, sometimes they're previews of longer comics and sometimes they're stand-alone stories or bonus content.
