You aren't wrong. One of my grants had critiques about my neural crest cell aim. (I dont work on neural crest cells). I think we are all burnt out on reviewing. And they fired so many at NIH there is little bandwidth for oversight and correction.

@healthcare.nikon.com out of respect for the individuals dealing with PCD if nothing else, you need to retract this award. There is no way that is a AI enhanced representation of actual data. It's an AI created image that bears no reality to what biologist see when they look at multiciliated cells.

My prayer for this anniversary (and all those to come) is that we all learn to push hate and anger away. That we work to remain open and not reflexively decide certain people are the enemy as opposed to fighting the type of hate that propels so much suffering and death. /5x

Strangers smiled at each other. People let me pet their dogs when they were out walking. It was like there was no more room for hate or anger. Sadly, that wasn't the case everywhere at the time. Fear gave rise to misplaced anger and aggression towards others. /4

My strongest memories of the next few weeks after 9-11 were the posters of the missing that were everywhere, and how nice and polite everyone was in the city. It was like an unspoken pact to try and connect and see one another on the street or in the train station. /3

And I was at NYU med school in midtown, so nowhere close to the towers. It was that terrifying. Thinking about all those who lost loved ones that day, those who sacrificed so much, often including their health or lives, in rescue and cleanup, and those who were so much closer to the events. /2

I will likely always spend this anniversary thinking about how much being in NYC on 9-11 traumatized me. I *still* stop dead in my tracks when I hear a low flying plane and wait for the sound of a crash. We have a local airport and are on a path for EWR so it isn't uncommon. /1

But it all comes back to money. When you have to work from day 1 to raise enough to get reelected, it is no wonder big money and corporations can direct these fights. I want someone with brave convictions to go into office with the goal of reforming this and repealing Citizen's United. /3

But I would think when so much is on the line, and our citizens need what our country could easily provide (its criminal that anyone goes hungry in this country), that politicians would be fighting loud and proud for what needs to be done. /2

The piece resonated with me. I'm furious that we don't see the Dems fighting for anything, it feels like. I get that many things are done behind closed doors and that some R colleagues are saying one thing to Trump in public and working with others to find sanity somewhere. /1

I see your point. I'm sure all kinds of deals are made that we will never know about. And I felt a lot better about that when I felt like adults were in charge. When some of them come to light, like Iran/Contra, it's difficult not to wonder about what else happened.

Sure. But it wasn't/isn't logical. It was my first foray into "not sure I'm with my family on this one" by the end of his term. I was trying to point out that everyone has a narrative they are comforted by. Doesn't mean its true.

No one was thinking - "look how the Iranian regime swayed the election" because it wasn't logical. People were voting their pocketbooks as they usually do. I remember sitting in the car for an hour in gasoline lines./2x
