imo it's simply one of those games that's mostly designed for higher level play like DmC or Bayonetta etc. you trust the tutorials, beat the campaign once, up the difficulty and that's when it starts clicking - by that point you gotta ignore tutorials, come up w/ your own combos and all that

yeah, games are weird in how there can be ONE thing a game does that completely demolishes the experience for you. you might hate mario odyssey because you get shines too often, or hate metro exodus because it interrupts you all the time. and so on. i'm glad the time limit in MM didn't bother me

It's not entitled to point out the problems with Toby's reason for not having translations. I'm not demanding PT-BR Undertale, there's a lot of reasons to not put the time and effort into that stuff as a dev. (tho it's awesome when they do) But the STATED reason is myopic to the extreme.

When did I say it was simple? If Toby's stated reason was not wanting to spend time and money supporting a localization team I'd understand. But he's just not OK being unable to verify a translation himself with 0 support, which is egocentric and ignorant of what localization even is.

A problem dealt with by every mildly successful piece of media you've ever consumed, for which best practices exist. Devs give notes and context, translators communicate in the dev's language, community feedback is heard, translations are iterated on. Not foolproof, but dismissing it makes no sense.

It's a difficult job, but that's why professionals get hired. Good localizing makes the game really pop, we have so many great examples in film and games already. I can't blame a dev for just not wanting to invest the time and money (or not having the resources), but difficulty alone's no excuse.
