Real truth has predictive power. If it were true that libertarians cared about protecting lives and freedom, they would be outraged at the president deploying troops domestically to intimidate us. Since libertarians aren’t outraged, we can conclude they don’t care about protecting lives and freedom.

Growing up, my family had no empathy for me, so I grew to believe empathy was irrelevant. That made me into a libertarian. Later, I learned empathy was good. Now I’m not a libertarian.

I’m glad I’m not a libertarian anymore because I am concerned when the federal government sends federal troops into US states to kill US citizens for their political beliefs but libertarians overwhelmingly think that’s no big deal. So that’s a big difference between us.

Being vegan is not just about not using animal products personally. For example, I think it’s “more vegan” to wear a pair of leather shoes made in some traditional non wasteful way (esp second hand) than a plastic shoe that came from a factory where the toxic runoff destroys millions of birds.

Was consumed all day at work by the fact that trump tweeted "UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!" at Iran, which from any normal president would be hugely consequential and it wasn't even a story because the media has just sort of deformed itself into nihilistic acceptance of the fact that he's insane

Like there are 3 ways to cover this: 1) assume (correctly) that this is not a sane person, report it as an earthshaking scandal that the president is nuts 2) pretend that this is a serious demand from a normal president & report it as an earthshaking moment in US foreign policy 3) nothing matters
