The funniest part isn't that they're trying to bribe threaten the Catholic Church. The funniest thing is that they think they're the ones with clout in this relationship. Lol forever.

This is Ihor Malchevskyi, a 69-year-old scientist at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, escaping the flames after a Russian attack. I could also write, "the whole world watched this live," but we can see that news from Ukraine has long been out of focus. 📹: DW

Whelp! Here come the Diesel Wars! To recap: the US starts a war they seem to be losing, that war makes diesel v. expensive. Then they want to start another war, economic this time, with allies, in order to make diesel cheap? Excellent strategy lads! Truly stable genius leadership!

Russia is losing the war and they just resort to attempting to kill Ukrainian children in schools. Besides being a horrifying act, something that should see them shunned from any international body for the next generation, it's also counter productive.

The second attempt for Romania to have a full government has failed. We're either getting a far right party in the government or we're getting early elections. Fun times, either way.

Romania had a "First House" program - the government would assume the risk for couples who wanted to borrow money from the bank for their first house, if the house was reasonably priced, there was a cap for how much you could borrow with government assistance. Singapore is taking it a step further.

The most important thing I learned in my 20s is that being smart doesn't make you special. Eventually you need to learn to try hard and to enjoy learning to do things you're not immediately good at. It turns out that the people who didn't learn this lesson were reading Harry Potter fanfic.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

‘Dear sir/madam, to whom it may concern, we hacked one of your websites.’ Hilarious that OpenAI just sent an email to the public inbox of Services Australia, (and nearly two months after the hack)
Timeline: OpenAl agent hacks
Australian government website
Here is what we know of the timeline how things panned out:
• 18 June - OpenAl's agent accessed both public and non-public information on an Australian website
• August (precise date unknown) - OpenAl said it became aware of a potential breach during a broader review of "misaligned model activity"
• 10 September - An email from OpenAl lands in the public inbox of Services Australia, the general services hub of the federal government, informing of the incident

The UK government should be ashamed of themselves. If you don't have the laws to prevent a child from being exploited like this, you can't really call yourself a decent nation. This is beyond the pale.

A heist movie but it's Patti Lupone, Aubrey Plaza, and Miss Piggy. Miss Piggy is the only Muppet, and it's simply never mentioned. She has several male suitors, including Pedro Pascal.

Every time Miss Piggy looks in the mirror her reflection is played by Jennifer Coolidge, again, never explained.

Like coding, finance looks highly disruptable by AI, which I wouldn't have thought possible, since unlike coding, the nature of the job looked highly dependent on human connections and long term relationships to me. Will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

I'm a live-in nanny for 2 of my nephews for the week. Their parents are on another continent, doing turism. I'm over here checking maths homework and taking kids to activities. It's both harder and easier than I thought, they are VERY good kids. I don't know how the disaster genes skipped them.

I've spent a lot of years studying a lot of collapses, and the truth of the matter is that they're always mundane: mild climatic shifts that reduce crop yields, a dumbass in power who makes some terrible decisions, neglecting things that obviously matter but the will to fix them can't be summoned.

This is a skills issue. Spend it, give it away, or light it on fire for all I care, but if you don't know how to use money to make your life better then you shouldn't have money, that's the rules. There are people who very much could use it and it should go to them. [Also, taxes should be bigger]
