It's interesting how there is a perception that lethal injection is somehow more "humane". Pentobarbital is a very old drug and it sounds like vascular access was challenging. There's a lot of issues because I believe the American Medical Association doesn't allow www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Her lawyer says Pike is being "provided life-saving measures" after two syringes of pentobarbital.

Humanists UK mourns Dame Esther Rantzen (1940–2026) Esther was a great champion of human dignity. She approached her final years with the same fearless determination that defined her career of advocacy, using her own experience to shine a light on the suffering caused by our outdated laws.

I was looking at a Facebook memory where I was asking about the Sycamore Gap tree and friends explained and were discussing its cultural significance in Northumbria. Now, I get Reels of people playing pranks on each other. This is progress, apparently.

The worst part about twitter is there are a number of people who think they have to be active there who are left-leaning but have had their brains absolutely cooked by the site. You can't inundate yourself in exposure to that stuff without it having an impact on you.

Dix Pour Cent/Call My Agent! 🇫🇷, Dark 🇩🇪, The Bridge 🇸🇪/🇩🇰, The Killing 🇸🇪, Borgen 🇩🇰, Kim's Convenience 🇨🇦, House of Cards 🇬🇧 are all better than several shows on the list.

I think the difficulty with this article is it fails to recognise, the NHS is woefully undermanaged and that many managers are current or former clinicians with no management training. Management is fundamentally a job about emotions and motivations. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I won’t lie, it’s a bit overwhelming to see the work hyperbolized by many press outlets, including the university. We did not discover a new organ, or that you have two consciousnesses, etc! I’m excited for the general positive recognition, (especially the coverage from the Chronicle by Jack Lee)

A Stanford-led study challenges the idea that the brain develops from one common pool of early cells — and could help researchers model diseases such as ALS.

Lib Dems reject ‘discriminatory and unworkable’ EHRC guidance on transgender people
Motion passed at party conference calls for new approach to implementing ruling that legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex only The Liberal Democrats have rejected official guidance by the equalities watchdog on how organisations should implement the supreme court ruling on transgender people, calling it “discriminatory and unworkable”. The motion, passed overwhelmingly at the party’s annual conference in Brighton, makes the Lib Dems the first of the big three parties in parliament to call for a new approach to implementing last year’s ruling that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex only. The Greens have previously done so. Continue reading...

I tend to agree that more tick boxes are not the answer and do not fit with the ethos of the current curriculum. Ultimately, regional anaesthesia isn't really about being able to do every block perfectly. It's that a several anaesthetists have watched a trainee perform blocks and think they can do
