i got a new desk and irixified my desktop theming .. the Power i hold

a green desk in a small closet with a chair in front and computer tower underneath. notably on the desk can be seen tenshi and patchouli fumos, a major arcana deskmat, a monitor with a koishi wallpaper, a playstation portable, and a playdate.

Wendy Carlos should be on the 20 dollar bill. There should be a 50-foot-tall, solid-gold statue of her in Pawtucket. You should be able to buy all her albums in any format you want and a line of custom branded synths. She should be a household name along with Bob Moog.

are there any good small and queer spaces for talking about gamedev on discord? i wanna get back to talking to other indies more but the large discords are so daunting and i don't want to join engine-specific ones..

i think especially for music equipment it makes sense since music producers are already expecting to pay premium prices for equipment (so the cost of a processor strong enough to render on-device isn't important..) and DAWs can really devour CPU time. could imagine weaker hardware struggling there..

angel @rainy.garden · 02/09/2026

piping over USB seems like the less efficient solution; that way means you have to care about how you encode graphics and you have to be mindful of bandwidth for sending and CPU time for rendering.. rendering on-device with light metadata is a lot cheaper and probably less effort to program !

pretty much every website does this now.. it's always either the cloudflare screen or the anubis one with the cute mascot

110

angel @rainy.garden · 27/08/2026

there's a vibecoded twitter clone that's shown up suddenly.. it costs $20 to join, an ai "fact checks" all your posts and hides ones it thinks are false, and it took all of ten minutes to figure out that you can view basically everyone who signed up's email and birthdate. this can't keep happening..

140

angel @rainy.garden · 24/08/2026

this sucks enough on its own but especially troubling is that both google and duckduckgo seem very happy to list the fake websites above the authentic ones, even when substantial effort is put in to make the official website stand out (like having it linked to on steam's storefront and social media)

050

angel @rainy.garden · 24/08/2026

i've noticed with a few games coming out lately on steam (i've seen it with lucid blocks and now allumeria..) that shortly before the game gets released, someone buys a domain name for it and puts up an entirely ai-generated blog and wiki purporting to be the official website..

i love fei's dialogue. "My father? You mean my dad?"

010

angel @rainy.garden · 08/08/2026

i'm also really fond of this ostensible child? character who's clearly like six years old but also balding and looks like he's been saddled with a grave and serious responsibility?

a picture of Dan from Xenogears. he has mostly childish features, though has a large forehead that causes him to appear as though he is balding, alongside a somewhat serious expression.

angel @rainy.garden · 08/08/2026

watching nes play xenogears and i really like the characters in the starter village who all go "Ah, hello Fei. Wow, it's been almost three years since you came to the village, huh? I remember when you showed up bloodstained and nearly dead. Do you remember that? When you were on the verge of death?"
