Today programme about to platform someone advocating for ‘AI rights’. Off it goes. If AIs have rights then they should also be subject to the rule of law. If so, they are by their creators’ own admissions guilty of massive levels of theft, and so can go straight to jail and enjoy their rights there.

buying a button accordion even though I've only been playing tenor banjo for 3 years and even if I just played that for the rest of my life it wouldn't be enough. also deeply coveting an 80s/90s boxy volvo or mercedes (but holding back as I think having two cars is deeply crass and wrong)

just discovered that someone (with lots of followers) who used to gleefully sub-tweet me rather than engage doesn't allow replies or quote posts to their posts on this platform🤔 luckily i remembered to (re)block them so i don't have to read their 100% and un-critique-able opinions any longer

I'm proposing the permanent destruction and abolition of England. The football team, the country, the language, the very concept, all of it. It can all just be absorbed into greater Wales/ Cymru Fawr.

You know what’s funny? Correcting people even when they use ‘less’ correctly. ‘He did less well’ - actually I think you’ll find it’s ’fewer well’?

"People talk about great opening lines all the time, but dynamite second lines receive less attention. Spanish author Vicente Luis Mora’s Centroeuropa has an all-timer of a second line": spectrumculture.com/2026/06/21/c... @galaxiagutenberg.bsky.social @rahulbery.bsky.social

Centroeuropa: by Vicente Luis Mora (Translated by Rahul Berry) - Spectrum Culture
Wordplay, structural games and hidden rules can all be sensed in the formal construction of Centroeuropa, giving it a paradoxical air of arbitrary intention and inevitable serendipity.

If you like your sci-fi/cli-fi "weird," run don't walk to pick up a copy of "Dengue Boy" by Michel Nieva; it's sui generis AF
Book cover of "Dengue Boy: A Novel" by Michel Nieva, translated by Rahul Bery. Psychedelic illustration on a black background with neon green, orange, and magenta. A giant mosquito with skeletal wings dominates the center, surrounded by planets, flames, Venus flytraps, and a small ghost. The title drips in chunky chartreuse letters at the top. Bold black text at the bottom names the author and translator, framed by a cracked green border with an orange outer edge.

Just seen the blurb on k*thleen stock's assisted dying book and I have some VERY bad news for 45-year old fans of cod-mystical, mid-tempo piano schlock.
"Do Not Go Gentle is a bracing, often chilling wrestle with the ethical dilemmas surrounding the assisted death service - a deeply unsettling read, clear and powerful. Kathleen Stock remains fearless, endless, thought provoking and always entertaining." Nick Cave

Achieved something quite spectacular today: placed my phone on top of my car while getting something from the boot, then, as I shut the boot, the phone fell into the gap and I pulverised it, as if it had been placed in a vice. And I only have a little over a year left to pay off on it!
