I haven’t read Five Days at Memorial yet, but I do have it on my reading list! This is excellent.

One of my all time favourite literary fiction novels! Had me falling down rabbit holes on the Spanish Civil War.

Picked these up from a quaint bookshop in Cairo full of antique, rare, and used books earlier this year.

War Hospital is a non-fiction history and investigative reporting book detailing the harrowing experiences of untrained young doctors trapped with 50,000 civilians in Srebrenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina, during the 1992 conflict.

War Doctor is the memoir of a surgeon who dedicated his life to humanitarian medicine. The Crisis Caravan is a critical look at the Aid Industry and its biggest mistakes. Notes from Death’s Door is another memoir from a doctor working with MSF, on one of their most challenging missions.

I’ve been reading a lot more memoirs, more nonfiction, especially on medicine & humanitarian aid. I graduated from medical school & have been exploring the question: What kind of Doctor I want to be? These reads are inspiring & illuminating, & have been instrumental to the answers I come back to.

Update: due to a dramatic upheaval in my life, I have decided to rebrand. I’ve retired my penname & will now be using my government name. I’m not entirely sure if I will be publishing under this name just yet, but I do feel like it is time for a change to compliment my new writing goals & projects.

OK, ok, I need to stop being coy and self-effacing. I am DELIGHTED that my work in making lesbian history accessible for authors of historical fiction is being recognized in books that used my work. My ultimate goal is to never again hear an author of a sapphic historical say "There's no sources."

@lhxx1010 — I didn’t know her very well but she was a mutual. and because I didn’t speak to her often prior to the hacking, I couldn’t pick out that it wasn’t her sending me that message. I had no idea she was hacked :/

I was stressed, I didn’t think it through. And Musk’s twitter is such a barely functioning shithole, I didn’t even consider that it was weird to contact support through a discord account. These scammers are getting smarter. 😭

Her marriage had been born out of love—of the misshapen kind—but ended in tragedy. For her late husband, may god have mercy on him, saw her as a fleeting curiosity of his own. An exotic little bird from the Orient, a passing passion. By the epilogue of their partnership, her wedding band had begun to feel more like a cage.

Somber over the uncertainties of a possible relationship and then I clicked on tiktok, saw that my girlies with albinism are making groups online, and felt a surge of joy that is completely unreal. This is the one community that can do me no wrong. I love them so much.
