The "is AI slavery" discourse is exactly what the tech bros want. It doesn't end with fancy autocompletes having human rights. Its logic ends with you having fewer rights. If you believe AI is sentient (it's not) & are down with enslaving it (it's not slavery), then why do human labor rights matter?

New-to-me bike day: this Singular Swift bikepacking machine. Testing out the fit on the Cheasty Trails today. What an awesome system of trails we have here right in the city!

I love the novelty taking a new bus route for a fun errand. Great way to see other parts of the city

Missed this in my neighborhood: a car seems to have run into the side of a multi-unit house on Rainier Ave S. This is kitty-corner from the South Seattle Senior Center. Cars, man.
A large plywood board covers damage on the side of a home. It appears as though a car drove into the side of the building.

Grateful for having a robust transit network. I got a bad flat on my bike commute home. Walked one block and got right on the 7 bus. @kingcountymetro.bsky.social

This is a huge improvement. Glad to see. I still tend to take the walking path/16th Ave S over 15th, but all lanes are welcome lanes.

That’s a good point. I wonder if the potential bubble risk just feels more significant/like ‘08, because AI is being infused into all aspects of our digital lives and is on a lot of people’s minds. Idk

Appreciate the response. I guess the difference in structure between the two seems maybe a bit of a red herring? I’m concerned that the effects of a serious correction on things like retirement accounts, could be pretty darn catastrophic. But I’m just a guy. I hope not!

I’m not an economist. It seems like a major pillar of his argument is that the big 4 companies are so big they can just absorb the losses if/when an AI bubble implodes? That seems optimistic.

Hillman City Block Party is an absolute blast. We biked car-free Lake Washington Blvd to get there. I love living in south Seattle. I love a Seattle summer.

Peak bike commute in today. Guy passing me on his bike gives me a ‘nice bike’, then, once passed with a double take, ‘and nice mustache!’

Kudos to all the Sound Transit staff guiding everyone this evening. It was absolutely slammed after the game.

We slyly caught a 36 bus after the game to Beacon Hill. Was not packed until Jackson

The turnout for Bicycle Weekends today is amazing. And yeah, there are some counterprotestors trying to rain on everyone's parade. But there are no signs so far that anyone is going to let that happen.

Feeling grateful for the start of car-free Lake Washington Boulevard summer weekends. Seeing the small NIMBY counter protest reminds me that victories like these are only won with continued advocacy. We must keep fighting for accesible, car-free spaces in Seattle.
