And of course Newes, who is, in short, Sequence without the moral brakes. Has plans, contingency plans and contingency plans of contingency plans, all sorted based on the probability.

Leon - not a planner by nature, but when fixated at a deeply personal goal he managed to outplay Sequence, a networked digital intelligence. Did not quite think about the consequences, but to be fair, he didn't plan to stick around once all was said & done,

And, if speaking of planners, this trio has to be mentioned: Sequence - a patient and gentle plotter and manipulator, successfully reshaping the world from the shadows for more than a decade,

she would definitely be more comfortable devising her own plans first, likely akin to Newes. Oyun goes with what feels right at the moment. She doesn't really think things through, much to Liu's frustration.

#AwesomeCharacters Liu prefers to just follow orders as it gives her sense of security, trusting that Newes' plans are bulletproof. If pressed she will switch into a hypervigilant improvisation mode and be very good at it, but it does tire her out. If she had to, 🧵

#AwesomeCharacters Leon just wants his old life back. He didn't consent to being yoinked out of his body and be given a synthetic one, and wants to find somewhere to belong. How he goes about it is another story, of course. Newes (who could be seen as an antagonist) just wants to feel safe.

Newes' digital and physical avatar does not display any emotion. Do they even have them? Who knows? (I do! But will I tell? 😈) It just may be a plot point in a future story.

Oyun laughs often. She has that genuine, embracing, warm laugh you would expect from a parent or a grandmother. Which, technically, she is (60 in 2046, has/had grandchidren), even if she appears younger.

She will eventually open up and learn to laugh from Oyun again, even if it will take a good while. I imagine once that happens, there will be a snort, which will only make her laugh more.

#WIPSnips A lot of primes in my stories since "Prime world" is used to refer to the real world (as opposed to a simulated one). But hey, I figured I could fetch one from Just Puppets that I keep referring to in #Septopolis. A rough draft. Liu visits a simulation of her lost home and family.

You know, I heard someone once said, and I quote, "Who in their right mind would want to travel to Āradanū without an excellent reason?" :D

...and that there just might be a few more pockets of strugglers in the more habitable zones of Earth. And then there is the Mars colony, governed by Sequence's brother AI, Ares. So the future is bright! Maybe! Just could hold a little less UV and religious fanaticism.

The Community also cannot know that they are, in fact, not the only surviving vestige of Sequence's civilization on Earth. Another short story mentions a city in northern Africa that was not entirely destroyed, and its underground still houses a working ALARES complex.

This should, eventually, paired with an assassination of a certain high-position individual in the US that Liu and Oyun may be involved in, create a fracture in the Commissar / FHN hierarchy... and steer China in the direction Newes want.

These apply gentle pressure on easing the official ban on advanced technology - very, very carefully, and only by bringing up what the hard (Newes-provided) data suggest: the Commissars' crude plan to address the global ecological crisis using only analog tech is destined to fail.

Septopolis 28 Right now it is literally the Bunker against the world. But there are plans in motion to change that... so let's see about those future possibilities! I mentioned earlier that the Bunker's nearest neighbor, Commissar-ran China, has already been infiltrated by technomancer agents. 🧵
