#31daysofhorror 5. Verónica Exorcism themes, subtle but effective visuals. I love a film that doesn't feel like it needs to walk the viewer through with tons of exposition. It gives off some solid The Exorcist vibes.

#31daysofhorror 4. The House 3 stories for the price of one! And some really beautiful stop motion. This is definitely horror mild, or subtle horror. Psychological horror is in there for sure. I enjoyed it very much.

#31daysofhorror 3. Lake Placid This is a bit of a cheater. I've seen it, but I've not seen it since it came out. I do my best to watch things I've never seen before, I just needed a kinda silly movie tonight. I forgot it's actually pretty funny.

#31daysofhorror 2. The Privilege It's okay. Kinda fun. Weird fungus exorcism? How do you make it so the threesome scene is so shoehorned in that it doesn't fit the story even though you've established all the teens are filled with hormones?

#31daysofhorror 1. Under the Shadow War is horror, and now you have to also deal with the supernatural. Really good depiction of family conflict. Uncertainty but not in a bad way. That tape was doing a lot of heavy lifting though.

I'm glad I have a backlog of horror saved up, I still want to do my yearly watching of new movies, but I'm so tired still, I need to be able to choose quickly. I also don't know if I'll do a series rewatch this year. Maybe later in the month.

When Lucy from Compass Books in Dartmouth, Devon, was victim to shoplifting people told her to install CCTV. Instead she put this ancient book thief curse on the wall from the Monastery of San Pedro in Barcelona so book stealers would be consumed by "the flames of hell" with "their members blasted".

A Curse Against Stealers Of Books
For him that
stealth a book from
this place, let it
change into a
serpent in his hand
and rend him.
Let him be struck with
palsy,
& all his members
blasted.
Let him languish in
pain crying aloud for
mercy, & let there be be no surcease to his
agony till he sink to
dissolution.
Let bookworms gnaw
his entrails in token of
the Worm that diets not,
& when at last he
goeth to his final
punishment, let the
flames of
hell consume him
forever & aye.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

i don't know why i wrote this but it's too long for a post and too short for anything else

"touch these things," said Jesus, "for they are my eyeballs."
"it's obviously grapes," scowled Judas, his hand wrist-deep in a closed shoebox. "just like his body was bread, the blood was obviously wine, and his liver was... i don't know, gelatin, or something."
"one hopes," Thomas smirked.
"would you just fucking chill for once?" asked Peter. "every fucking supper it's something with you."
"at least he's not asking to borrow money again." The group ignored Thomas, as always.
"What peter means," offered Paul, "is that we're just trying to take our mind off of shit for a lil while. Things are just heavy lately, y'know?"
"feel this stuff," said the Lord, passing down yet another shoebox, "for it is my brains."
