Resident Evil and Silent Hill both got the best films in their respective franchises this year. The former being, obviously, Zach Cregger's Resident Evil, and the latter, of course, being Hokum.

I'm not one to get caught up in video game sales data at all. But boy do I hope Control Resonant sells well. What Remedy has been creating as a studio are some of the most artistically interesting and exciting games coming out of the AAA games industry, and I dearly hope they can keep it up.

Spider on my desk scared the shit out of me and crawled under my computer monitor, as I was looking for it I accidentally bumped into and broke my monitor, that thing was like $800. Never even found the spider! Bad morning.

Playing Sinking City 2 (which is great) and I come across a room with many x-rays you can inspect. I naturally thought it was for a puzzle to solve, however I noticed the detailed descriptions had date ranges in the 2020's, but the game is set in 1920. So I was a little puzzled by that. (1/2)

Me and my group of friends finished Big Walk, and, without an ounce of hyperbole, the end of that game is maybe the most artful, beautiful things I've seen come out of a video game in a long long time. It's genuinely something I'll never forget.

There's a lot to love about the new Ghost in the Shell, but it's the little things like the infrequent "blink and you'll miss it" imperfections they add that mimic dust, hair, and particles you'd find in old cel animation that bring this just an extra step up for me.

Screenshot from the new Ghost in the Shell anime from 2026 where I've circled in red what appears to be a mimicking of an imperfection like you'd see on older cel animation.

Just caught up on the currently airing donghua "False Memory". Every single frame of this thing is brimming with intent while it confidently bounces back and forth between the visual sensibilities of film and the hyper kinetic stylized works you see from someone like Imaishi.

I've had a pretty rough year while (unsuccessfully) looking for a job. But something I'm proud of is that I've used that time to work on myself, I've been exercising, I've lost 50 pounds and I'm at a healthy weight again, and my back, neck, and arm pain I had consistently have mostly gone away.

I swear, up to my late 20's I had never ever heard a soul talk about Columbo. I was pretty tapped into popular/well regarded TV and it never crossed my radar even once. The second I hit my 30's, I couldn't escape people referencing it. It's like I entered a new universe where it suddenly existed.
