Or is the punchline just the line of women who are going to punch him the next time he goes to the gym

Does that SNL comic know that jokes typically have like a…punchline

My hot take is that big modern movies can’t be as scary as older ones because everything looks so polished that it feels like a product, instead of an experience. Haunted Mansion instead of walking through the haunted house in some old warehouse. A smooth ride.

Tw - Cornell - Only thing I want to say - Surely fraternities just shouldn’t exist at this point - the whole system is set up to let these things happen. Hazing is just the start of testing compliance, that’s how you get 50 people in a chat with no pushback.

Something I think about all the time is how very much the bland homemaker aesthetics of this moment (beige toys, floral dresses, even the rise of competitive cheerleading) are intrinsically connected to fascism but none of the straight, young, ostensibly blue-leaning parents seem to realize that

Ice coffee sweats, and you don’t know if the space you’ll be sitting in will have a coaster. A hot coffee with a lid seems fine to me. Just don’t go in with nothing at all - in my last interview my mouth went dry, and I could literally hear my lips squeaking over my teeth 😂

Absolutely wild to be stuck on Born This Way in 2026. What beauty, what privilege to choose queerness, to join the collective vision of a dinner table with a seat for everyone. Yes — it matters. Homosexuality without queerness is small. It begs for scraps from Normal, Acceptable people. How dull.

Absolutely wild to mention his God as though he’s also mine, to reference the Bible as though it’s somehow universally or even nationally applicable.

I don’t discourse anymore! But if I did, I’d say that the Times will never run out of Pick-Me gays desperate to prove their marriage is just as biblical as the next guy’s. Obviously being queer IS a choice, and I’d choose it in every lifetime. This guy will never understand my choices or my life.

Realized you can make a Backrooms image by turning the yellow up on any 90s interior that hasn’t been renovated…maybe growing up back then is why nothing in the movie was scary?

Watching Gilmore Girls in my late teens/early twenties: wow, Lorelei is a cool and fun mom! Watching now: this woman has no boundaries and needs constant validation from her kid, who deserved an actual adult in her life - no wonder she grew up to be insufferable!

But anyway the answer is just capitalism. Capitalism maybe birthed those things but they also sure did ruin them.

In another world where I still write essays or even tweet, I’d be writing something about how I, the early adopter, the person who believed when google said “don’t be evil,” who chatted with chatbots in 2001 and went to see Asimo walk in SF in 2003, became not just a Luddite, but actually anti-tech

Project Hail Mary is about how you’re never really alone if you have at least one bespoke cardigan made of genuine Scottish wool
010
queergirl @queergirl.bsky.social · 27/03/2026
I’m reluctant to say this because it was partially financed by Amazon, but the only disappointing thing about Project Hail Mary was Sandra Hüller’s wig. The movie was very good.

I’m not particularly wise, and I’ve mostly given completely up on needing to micro-post my way through every political moment or issue, because we’re all just scrabbling along however we can in these trenches. But idk…this was just so stupid.

I hate free soloing conceptually anyway, and I wouldn’t usually even engage with it. But Alex Hanold went home to his kids today after taking risks for purely personal reasons. Other people who only took the risk of bearing witness to fascism, or legally seeking asylum, didn’t go home to their kids.

queergirl @queergirl.bsky.social · 25/01/2026
For no other reason than I used to climb and I live in America, I can’t help but see utter emptiness in Alex Hanold’s building solo today. To risk one’s life for the a boatload of Netflix money when people in Minnesota are risking their lives to protect and bear witness for their neighbors - why?

Thank you! 💙 It’s such an odd feeling. Just remembered that end of junior year of HS I wasn’t sure if I was gonna go back or do early college & I walked into the office wearing a brewery shirt (it’s a brewery town) and the lady yelled at me and I walked out and just never set foot on campus again 😂

This is the sort of thing that makes me want to walk into the woods and never come back. I feel completely bananas. I’ve been quite dedicated and doing really diligent work there, and it was just…thrown back in my face with a dress code like I was a truant high school kid.

My supervisor didn’t disagree with my points, but it’s just absolutely bizarre to me that it’s worth it to the organization to undo all of the work I’ve done to settle in there and turn it into an organizational home with one halfhearted policy that’s so much worse for anyone who can’t wear a skirt.
100
queergirl @queergirl.bsky.social · 23/07/2025
I spent years working to decide what was professionally appropriate to wear in the office when I transitioned out of women’s clothes. My work is excellent, and I was going into the office even more than required. A blanket policy is apparently more important than not alienating a dedicated worker.

queergirl @queergirl.bsky.social · 23/07/2025
I was told today that due to company policy I can’t wear my (knee length, dark neutral) shorts to work even when it is over 100 degrees outside and the office AC isn’t compensating. I don’t have an outward facing job & I always pair them with a professional shirt. Nobody but our workers in office.
