Oh mine tried. Even sent me to a mental health unit for "treatment". Been there, done that. Did it anyway. Never spoke to them again once I left, and started a website specifically for non-white goths long time ago. I wasn't good at it, but it was good to know at the time it was more than just me.

Exactly so. When we were uni students, that was sometimes the only way we were fed. I made friends with the Asian Students League, and the weekends were always feasts. We even had enough to put into takeaway containers that would feed us to Monday, and it saved money and built good bonds.

Mutual aid isn't just giving people the same five bucks, and it's getting on my case that's what it now seems to boil down to. I've been encouraging my offspring to invite their friends and university buds around every weekend for a bulk cook, since money for food isn't going so far anymore.

The way some of y'all talk about older people is 😬. Yes, I get it, there are some raggedy old folk out there, but it's like you want to throw all our elders on the fire to burn. That never used to be our way. Elders are encyclopaedias of knowledge and wisdom of how to get out of difficult times.

The first Pong videogame machine in our rural town was the size of a kitchen table, and nobody would play it because a whole quarter was considered a waste of money. I think I was the only kid who was fascinated with it, but I'd have to play both sides myself as nobody would play it with me!

Technically, I *am* painting; my handwriting has deteriorated over the years. The piece I did recently I had to add the text in editing software because I couldn't make the calligraphy work. So, I've been doing practice calligraphy work for the past week, building up motor skills and muscle memory.

I haven't done any painting or sketching in weeks. I used to panic about this, worrying I'd have lost the ability to even so much as hold a paintbrush in a month's time (it's happened, my joints are sometimes unforgiving). But it's ok; I've learned putting things down doesn't mean they're gone.
