We are a newly formed grassroots groups of environmental experts & advocates who love cities, nature, & people. pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 29/09/2026The Office of Housing said the same thing about Seattle to council this morning. In parts of Seattle people in affordable housing can be paying more than market rate. 010
pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 29/09/2026@ericacbarnett.bsky.social’s (along with @amysundberg.bsky.social) budget coverage provides a great window into the process. It’s extra impressive for having to suffer through the sanctimonious bloviating of many council members. 001
pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I did the same math, then remembered that firefighter could conceivably be sleeping between calls. Still seems really suspicious. 200
pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 25/09/2026The Juarez countdown is on. As an appointed member I think her term ends as soon as the election is certified. She’ll be gone and Jenks (presumably) in her place. That will start changing the council dynamic. 150

pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 22/09/2026It sure seems like a parking enforcement position would be a revenue stream and not a cost right? Isn’t it more like cutting folks in tax enforcement? 310

pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I just listened to this interview with @mayor.seattle.gov and she sounded like the leader we voted for and the leader Seattle needs: smart, humane, and full of ideas on how to make our city work better. Legacy media should be embarrassed by their efforts to smear her. 2389
pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Something rubs me the wrong way about “artist focused” affordable housing. Are artists are the only low income folks worthy to live in their community? The stepping stone to cool neighborhood status? I have never seen a food service or manual labor focused affordable housing project. 391

Reposted by @pwalchtaylor.bsky.socialJust Sarah @sarahchadd.bsky.social · 31/08/2026As I've said a few times since this report was posted nearly a month ago, it shows nothing except that these folks are message-testing and have money to pay consultants to make them shiny slide decks (that they should be using *internally*). GNC is the same ol' folks in a different trench coat: 1113
pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 31/08/2026It seemed he like made a good case that he didn’t have a great partner in SEA. But maybe I missed something. pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 30/08/2026That’s also where the 12th Ave bike lane inexplicably disappears for four blocks before reappearing, making what would be a safe connection from Capitol Hill to Beacon feel unsafe. 080
pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 30/08/2026SDOT shouos build the MLK bike lane as part of a corridor safety project. Slower speeds and fewer lanes will make accessing Link stations safer. It will also mean fewer cars hitting our many billions of dollars light rail and causing it shut down for hours at a time. 2153
pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 29/08/2026I was also a fan of the “Ungap The Map” campaign to fix all the missing pieces. Seattle is very good at providing *mostly* safe routes where you are thrown to the wolves at some point. 1130
pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I wrote a thing! We’ve seen many example of SEPA being abused to stop things such as zoning changes, affordable housing, a bike trail, and even a grocery store. It’s time for the legislature to make larger fixes so that SEPA can’t be weaponized by NIMBYs to thwart important projects and policies. 0223

pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Half the BRT projects in Seattle are utility projects disguised as transit projects. It’s also why they take so long. pwalchtaylor.bsky.social @pwalchtaylor.bsky.social · 06/08/2026If anything their system incentivizes it. If drivers park in safe places that make passengers walk farther they could get a bad review. Bad reviews cost them rides. And it’s hard for non-passengers to report dangerous behavior. The system is set up to encourage blocking bike lanes, bus lanes, etc. 150
