Just referred to the tension between the life I think I'm supposed to want and the life I feel would be best for my loved ones and possibly myself as "the old Ozu situation"

Nothing better than when there's a character who has been frantically working on some magnum opus in a fearsome-looking journal, and then near the end of the character's arc the protagonist opens it for the first time and finds that it contains apparently illigible scribblings. That's the stuff

I'm gonna say it: Chantal Akerman is a brilliant filmmaker and her movies contain a lot of insight into what it's like to be a human being. I know this is a shocking take, but I must speak my truth

Terrified that the entirety of Fire Emblem I've played so far has secretly been nestled within one of twelve-hundred menus you have to navigate, and at some point I'm going to press B and reveal a higher layer of menu gameplay I have not yet touched, complete with its own new menus and sub-menus

Ever wonder why the Super Nintendo was "bumpy" or "uneven" compared to the original NES? It was designed that way on purpose to prevent people from placing drinks on it, which apparently was one of the more costly and common repairs for the NES. #snes #nes #retrogames

This movie was so useful to watch in helping codify something I've been thinking a lot wrt "Issue" movies: the difference between a somewhat paternalistic "empathy" that feels closer to sympathy, and the cultivation of a real understanding of the circumstances that create and perpetuate inequality
