the worst thing about the deleuze-guattari fandom is they would rather read esoteric larp work by an annoying British meth head racist who likes to throw around tech words because he just discovered UNIX at the university rather than the guy whose name is literally half of "deleuze-guattari"

It's crazy watching tech bros trying to get "ahead of the curve" with AI when every other discipline in computer science is demonstrating how full of shit they are Like seriously just admit you suck at programming, writing and art and don't set the planet on fire

So deeply not kidding when I say that the current paradigm of "Gen AI" is doing deep, lasting harm to our ability to make knowledge, meaning, & truth w/ each other. Like… it's really fucking us up & if we don't stop it soon we're gonna see a kind of negative chaos frankly unimaginable to most ppl 👍🏾
screenshot of a Tumblr post from user ecofear yelling "what is HAPPENING" in response to a screenshot of a quotetweet from user @Ovichknox reading "this is so scary to me. i recommended a book to a friend recently and she came back to me a day later saying it was really good and i asked if she finished it already and she said "yeah i got chatgpt to summarise each chapter into 3 paragraphs to it was easy to read"
which is replying to a tweet from @alz_zyd reading "Personally, I read a bunch of classics in high register in college. I guess it was fun. I recently ChatGPT'd Aristotle into readable English, finished it around 5x as fast as a translation, and felt l got the main gist of things. idk does the pain incurred…"

Followed by a a reblog from tumblr use moonglade-poetess reading "Hey guys, with so much love, and as someone with an actual English degree:

Please just use Sparknotes if you're going to do this. I get it. I do. But chatgpt or other genAl shit doesn't actually know what's important for you to know, and in some cases it might fully make shit up. Use sparknotes. Failing that, talk to someone who did read it. I'm begging.

the worst part of AI LLMs pretending to be historical figures is that they will systematically remove all historical context in favor of repeating the Oedipus complex ad nauseum because AI still does not comprehend the critique of psychoanalysis presented by Deleuze and Guattari in Anti-Oedipus

You can honor David Lynch by wearing a mask in public. He had to begin isolating at home because he has emphysema- a COVID infection would likely be fatal- and no one wears masks anymore. Millions of others like him (including myself) were left behind when COVID measures were abandoned

If you use copilot mode for coding you're a fucking loser I don't care if you use it "just for boilerplate code or repetitive code", you can spend 15 minutes writing it yourself or writing a generator that will contribute way less to global emmissions

This is a great Marxian take on art and how artists, unlike chatbots, have an inalienable connection to their work. The poster didn’t make it shareable but gave me permission to share it:
‘While the value of a work quite obviously does not necessarily depend on the moral character of its creator, I confess to not really knowing what anyone means by the phrase "separate the art from the artist." Whatever that is supposed to look like—and I'm glad if it is satisfying to those who do it—I am sure that in my own case it would lead to a relationship to art that is highly impoverished in comparison to the way I relate to it now. There's a reason it's actually pretty alien to the way either artists or the most avid appreciators of their work tend to relate to the relationship between artist and artwork. One of the reasons artists create is precisely so that they can live on and make themselves known, really known, visible, audible, and legible, to others. "That's not me, it's just a thing I have made"—sorry, this strikes me as a highly alienated relationship to production and one that artistic expression, by its very nature, disrupts and explodes.
What confuses me most of all is that people who insist on "separating the art from the artist" tend to cite, as evidence of their enlightened stance, how personally unaffected they are by either the artist or their art! I suppose if art is nothing more than ornamentation then who cares whether it was made by a sinner or a saint or a flawed human being or an AI generator? But what is it, in that way of relating to art, that I am supposed to recognize as superior?
I want to be affected. I want art that connects me to the life of another human being. I want the capacity to be heartbroken, to be enraged by the lie, to be betrayed by the artist who is not what their art made them seem. And when this happens, I want my relationship to their art to be forever changed. I'm supposed to trade that in... for what, exactly? The ability to be always untroubled and ever amused? To always be charmed tomorrow by whatever charmed me yesterday?
I don't get it. To be fair, I'm not sure I want to. I can be disappointed and made a foo…

I wonder if amid the horrific unprecedented destruction in Los Angeles going on right now, Richard Dawkins is ever going to acknowledge that in "Postmodernism Disrobed" he promotes a book that literally is questioning if climate change is actually real in 1994
As is now rather well known, in 1996 Sokal submitted to the American journal Social Texta paper called ‘Transgressing the Boundaries: towards a transformative hermeneutics of quantum gravity.’ From start to finish the paper was nonsense. It was a carefully crafted parody of postmodern metatwaddle. Sokal was inspired to do this by Paul Gross and Normal Levitt’s Higher Superstition: the academic left and its quarrels with science (Johns Hopkins, 1994), an important book which deserves to become as well known in Britain as it already is in America. Hardly able to believe what he read in this book, Sokal followed up the references to postmodern literature, and found that Gross and Levitt did not exaggerate. He resolved to do something about it. In Gary Kamiya’s words:It is distinctly possible that human activities, intensified as population grows and fuel-hungry technology becomes ubiquitous, could change the set point. Natural geological and astronomical phenomena, operative now as in the past, have, certainly, done that—during successive ice ages, for example, and perhaps as a consequence of the cyclic repositioning of Earth relative to our star and the sun’s to the center of the galaxy. Of course they will continue to do so in the future. There will be global warming and cooling, whether we are here or not. Volcanoes alone will see to it.18 The question—and we emphasize that it remains a question—of the effect upon this set point of increasing emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, and other “greenhouse” gases, byproducts of technology and agriculture, is of the highest importance. It deserves the most comprehensive and scrupulous investigation.

one of my favorite parts of the deleuze camp in 2024 was the part where the presenter told us about how deleuze and guattari called out gregory bateson for being a dolphin fed this presentation was actually really good but this is still just so funny
A drawing of Deleuze and Guattari on the left with protestors from May 1968 drawn behind them, and Gregory Bateson drawn on the right thinking "Action"?. The text next to him is not legible. On the right is the following quote:

The scientist as such has no revolutionary potential; he is the first integrated agent of integration, a refuge for bad conscience, and the forced destroyer of his own creativity. Let us consider the more striking [than Andre Grosz] example of a carrie 're a' l'ame 'ricaine) with abrupt mutatiions, just as we imagine such a career to be: Gregory Bateson begins by fleeing the civilized world, by becoming an ethnologist and following the primitive codes and the savage flows; then he turns in the direction of flows that are more and more decoded, those of schizophrenia, from which he extracts an interesting psychoanalytic theory; then, still in search of a beyond, of another wall to break through, he turns to dolphins, to the language of dolphins, to flows that are even stranger and even more deterritorialized. But where does the dolphin flux end, if not with the basic research projects of the American army, which brings us back to the preperations for war and to the absorption of surplus value. (Deleuze and Guattari, 1983: 257)
