Reader Immersion: Really Useful Links by Lucy O’Callaghan
Reader immersion is widely recognised as one of the defining characteristics of effective fiction. When readers become fully absorbed in a story, they no longer feel like passive observers but instead experience events alongside the characters, sharing their thoughts, emotions, and surroundings. This encourages readers to form deeper emotional connections with the narrative, making stories more memorable and impactful. I have compiled some articles and podcasts that discuss how to create immersion in your fiction that captivates readers from beginning to end.

Why is everything so transparently evil now?
"Print books from the pre-LLM era are structurally guaranteed to be free of this contamination. That alone is a significant advantage," it explains in an article on its website, as quoted by
404. "Physical books published before this date [pre-2022] are structurally clean of modern poisoning tools."
Once focused on helping libraries, distributors, and book shops find and sell books, ISBNdb now helps Al companies bulk-buy anywhere between 1,000 to one million books per order, according to 404.

Flood Tide (Tonn Tuile) by Séamus Ó Néill and Eithne O’Neill
From Tonn Tuile to Flood Tide: the daughter and translator relates. Eithne O'Neill on translating her father's Tonn Tuile: a landmark of mid-century Irish fiction, now in English for the first time. Translating my father's first novel had the makings of an incestuous gesture. Tonn Tuile tells of the Ulster-born protagonist's start in the South as a writer and newly-wed. At the same time, its span of two years, from 1939-1942, coincides significantly with my own beginnings, a first-born and the object of considerable attention.
