I just think horses are all trying their best, man

A goofy photo of a young baby foal with an apricot red coat, snip, and big star. He is looking at me pathetically through a fence.

I like it when we feel as if we're one in purpose, no barriers or strife. No micromanaging or chastising.

Expelling one more demon of procrastination out of my body before chores by horseposting

A photo of a dark brown mare in the rain wearing blue fly boots doing done crazy rearing thing. She has a light mane and tail and is built mostly like a Spanish horse.

They're just really really good dude

A photo taken from the side of a dark colored horse hoof. The horse is wearing a blue fly boot. It is freshly trimmed with a big mustang roll on the toe.

A photo of the bottom of the same hoof, showing a very clean sole and frog. It's pretty wet out.

The weather is beautiful, and I'm fantasizing about when I had more time 🥲

A photo taken from the back of a dark brown horse with a light mane. She's in a rainbow halter and relaxed, walking through the pasture.

"gaited horses don't collect like trotting horses!" i want to say 'i don't know where this comes from!' but i know where it comes from and it's saddleseat where even the tailset is artificial and painful anyway here's some natural collection from a gaited horse lol

A dark brown mare after the rain in a very very green pasture. She is in the middle of a canter stride with only here front right foot off the ground. Her topline is flexed, pelvis tilted back slightly, and most of the weight on her hind end. She's on the vertical and her golden mane and tail flow on the wind, even while wet.

Someday I'll make real tutorials instead of DRAW GOOD NOT BAD but for now I'm busy with school and just trying to dispel the idea of a horse hoof being a weird meat can

A blue canvas with purple drawings of hooves split up into "weird" and "natural". The weird side includes a bunch of drawings of mammal limbs ending in an awkward dark, shiny cylinder. The cylinder occasionally has a metal, U shaped horseshoe attached. The bottom is an ambiguous dark circle with no features. I derisively compare it to a plunger. There are many frownie faces. The natural side shows a normal horse's hoof, which has the cushy padded heel bulbs on the back, mostly similar to other mammalian feet, but with a nail covering the toe. It is more square and less tall and rectangular from the front. On the bottom, it's circular with a triangle in the middle coming from the heel bulbs and pointing towards the toe.

"horses are scary!!!" blep

Extreme closeup of the grey snout of a silver horse with a snip. Her tongue is barely visible, poking out.

The most "legendary" bits I keep hearing people talk up are three piece bauchers with a gentle lift in the middle. The three piece prevents the bit from hitting the palate with pressure, the baucher alleviates poll pressure, and the rounding over the palate fits the tongue gentler.

A bit called a "CalmBlue Baucher snaffle". It's what I described, a baucher that's neither thick nor thin with a gentle curve made of three pieces.

We have a chestnut mare with a big blaze who has the exact same blanket and a similar story, save she had a good home prior to falling into a bad situation. Abuse is excused by saying the horse did something bad to "earn it" but the reality is it will happen to ANY of them in the wrong hands.

A photo of a red mare with a big blaze and slightly worried expression in her corral panel stall standing near some troughs on the ground. She's wearing a yellow blanket with pink flowers and blue and purple accents.

I think it's really funny that my horse, who has no self awareness and zero concept of vanity, has the kind of hair color human beings pay hundreds of dollars for. Like she was just born like this she doesn't know anything

A photo of a dark brown horse with a blonde mane from behind. It's a gradient, starting dark and cool and getting warm and brassy towards the end.

Photo of my dark brown horse with a big star from the front, her mane in braids. The base of her mane is almost black, darker than her coat, while the tips are pale bleach blonde. No I did not dye it or anything that's the point the silver gene is just weird.

Not trimming broodmares' hooves is neglect. For every additional pound from the foal, every inch of leverage on that foot is multiplying the force put on her legs and tendons every. Single. Step. SHE IS GIVING YOU EVERYTHING. YOU OWE HER EVERYTHING YOU CAN GIVE HER.

A simple photo of two mares grazing out in pasture with a big sky during light Oklahoma winter. The red mare is closer and bay mare barely visible. They look relaxed and happy.

I'd say Strawberry was born broke but I don't think she realizes she was born

I wish I adjusted the gamma better lol Oh well, this year's fly mask rescue

A photo taken at sunset from atop my dark brown mare Skye, a grey fly mask on her neck. Strawberry, a big weird orange horse whose white blaze pretty much glows in the dark, passively stares at us.

Love getting to hooves actually on time lol I should probably invest in more hoof mud to get rid of the last of that white line disease but I'm not super worried about it. Also last photo shows an untrimmed front vs after the trim.

A photo of the bottom of a hoof held in a gloved hand and leaned up against someone's knee where there's a hole in the jeans. It's a good hoof with a dark almost blue sole. It's slightly asymmetrical but very robust with huge, wide heels.

A photo of the same hoof from the side with slight silver feathering. The fever rings that do exist are very very subtle, making it one smooth, continuous surface. There's a bevel around the toe that's barely perceptible in the dirt.

A photo of the two front feet, one untrimmed and the other trimmed. The trim one is straighter, at a better angle, and baring most of her weight.

Some lesser known lore about me is I'm always trying to get a good selfie with my horse and always failing, they're all terrible Here was one I thought would be good but my phone wasn't pointed the right way

A photo of a dark brown hope with a big star looking off to the left. She's wearing a black bitless bridle. You can barely see my beard and lips in the bottom left, kissing her snout. My horse looks a little disheveled I'm not sure why because I cleaned her ass.

what's not seen is me throwing myself on the ground to get the right expression

A dark brown mare with a big star, little snip, and blond mane taking a tentative step closer. She looks mostly curious, a little concerned.

The same mare staring at me intently. Still slightly worried.

Tzar @pulsetzar.bsky.social · 22/01/2025

One fun thing about the canter compared to all other gaits is horses will just sometimes grab ass and take the FUCK off twice as fast as you anticipated. Or maybe just some horses. My mare definitely does this. It seems to me she thinks it's fun. I've also seen her do it out in pasture.

A dark brown horse with a light blonde mane. She is out to pasture and in the middle of taking off into a gallop, all of her weight on her hind end, front legs tucked as she flies away.

The world's PREMIER armadillo hater. Absolutely loathes em.

A photo taken from the back of a horse being ridden around the edge of a pasture near a fence with woods on the other side. The horse is dark brown with a light mane, pulling her neck away from the fence with ears stiffky back. The armadillo is subtly hidden away in the woods, minding its own business.

Had fun playing in the snow lol! gf @moonheart.bsky.social took photos

A photo of a man in a black helmet, jeans, and a black sweatshirt riding a dark brown mare with a light blonde mane in western tack and a sidepull through the snow in front of evergreens.

The brown horse and rider walking mostly away from the camera, the horse's neck stretched way out as she inspects a nearby tree closely.

The horse and rider far away between the trees, looking off into tht distant pasture and forest.

The horse and rider, both looking enthusiastic, moving towards the camera. You can see the horse's star and rider's beard.

Pro Balance is made in Oklahoma so the minerals are pretty close to ideal for us thankfully. Our seniors are on their senior feed and Omega+ and it's magic. Here's Wildfire, 20 and pregnant, and Tari, a 26 y/o stallion (plus my mentor) Thank you btw!!

A deep red mare wearing a fly mask and with a flaxen tail. She's looking back over her spoiler at me. She has a heavy build.

A red dun stallion. He's wearing a rope halter with the lead tossed over his shoulder. He looks content as a woman in coveralls works on his back foot. He's slightly sway backed because he's long but his coat is shiny and there are no visible ribs. His muscling is decent.

YEP exactly. None of our horses are currently laminitic, but, when my personal mare came back from living with my parents for around a year and receiving crappy Nutrena grain daily, she had blood in the white line! Now she's on Pro Balance and flax with an alfalfa pellet basis and THRIVING

A photo of a dark brown horse with a long blonde mane. She's in good body condition with a shiny coat and balanced proportions.

This is really cool!! I love these kinds of graphics, I've wanted to do some informative horse posts forever, just haven't mustered the courage to do it... until now maybe 👀 A note from a western horseman, a traditional hackamore is rawhide and can be strong! A rope hack is called a loping hackamore

A pretty blue roan quarter horse, who looks glossy black in her winter coat, going forward with slight uncertainty. An experienced horseman would know she was new to the saddle. She's wearing a dark brown breastcollar, hanger, and has a light, rawhide toned bosal, a type of nosepiece to a bridle that is shaped like an upside down teardrop with the smooth part on the nose and the point where the reins are tied.

A bay dun horse standing still and looking only very slightly concerned. He's wearing a soft bosal with the same hanger but this time the nosepiece is made of nylon tied in a rainbow pattern.

I remember reading the description for a trail we were thinking of riding and they were like "STRONGLY encourage shoes, there are patches of roots and they are HARD AS STONE" and i was just like. lol. lmao. rock crusher could use the polishing on her hooves. wouldn't do much else.

For those of y'all that train horses, what is your biggest weakness, then what is your biggest strength? My biggest weakness is getting too caught up in the moment and making irrational, impulsive decisions. My biggest strength is my ability to guide horses while staying out of their way.

I help my horse trainer gf take care of our herd of nine AND we love videogames. So we're both the exact audience AND are down to do consultations on irl horse biology, husbandry, and behavior 👀

A photo of me riding my brown horse with a blonde mane, hand visible holding the reins, with my girlfriend riding a dark bay up front in a blue t shirt with her red hair in a braid. I probably could teach this thing to lope off booby scratches alone but I'm afraid booby scratches are so high value she might take us both out in the process

Now that my horse is leaving the realm of green broke and I'm starting to tune cues to be swifter, softer, and more precise, I'm finding myself balancing asking for more difficult maneuvers while preserving her trust and willingness. Progress is glacial but I think it's there lol

A photo taken from the back of a dark brown horse with a blonde mane in the yard, a chicken run to the left, a trailer to the right, and a pasture with other horses in front. The ground is covered in leaves. I'm holding a pair of black braided split reins.

Both horses are the same breed, only a year apart, and have good winter coats, so why is one blanketed? Luna, the blue, is healthy and panel clean, whereas Strawberry has the genetic disease PSSM1 which primarily causes cramping, but also creates cold sensitivity!

A photo taken in a chilly pasture with green grass going brown of two horses laying together, one blanketed. Strawberry, a pink horse going grey, is wearing a grey blanket with rainbow unicorns on it as she sleeps, muzzle on the ground. Luna, a blue roan, has no blanket and it's comfortably lounging in the sun with her friend.

A photo of a dark brown horse with a light mane grazing intensely green grass with scattered leaves near a fence. This is the worst recent photo I have of her, she looks like a damn mule and I mean that in the worst way

A photo of a dark brown mare with a light muzzle and long, messily braided blonde mane. This angle makes her head look super blocky, ears long, neck weird and staff and pathetic, and shoulder really awkward.

I feel lucky that Strawberry is ours. She's hilarious. I love her

Strawberry, a big pink ish colored horse going grey with a shitty mane, big blaze, and googly eyes wearing her grey rainbow unicorn blanket. She's about to yawn, making a fish-like expression as her mouth wobbles open, lips slack. Both of her giant ears are loosely pointed in opposite directions.

I try to avoid this kind of stuff but I feel crazy not showing people these off the wall takes from Insta "Squishy little horse sneakers constrict the horse's movement more than metal nailed to them- thankfully my farrier who sells me metal shoes told me so!" "Horses are BORN with kissing spine"

My mare is sound without, but not fine! She has really sensitive soles wich makes riding outside on rocky roads and such uncomfortable.. and for the person who is going to suggest horseboots, absolutely not! They restrict the horses natural movement way more than a horseshoe will and unfortunately not enough people are aware of that. I'm thankful for my farrier to teach me this and getting my horse shod after trying really hard to get her feet well and comfortable being barefoot wich did not work out for us

kissing spine is something
that a particular horse is born with, it's not caused by a humans stupid training method

Step one: enjoy your blanket Step two: caress Step three: be turned out for butt scratches

A weird ugly sorrel going grey quarter horse mare with a big blaze and long ears. She's viewed from the side as she yawns very wide, very relaxed. You can see her grey blanket with rainbow unicorns.

Strawberry's big pink snout mugging the camera, googly eyes intent in the background. She has the world's worst forelock that looks like a tiny weed between her massive ears.

At sunset, the rear end of Strawberry receiving a scratch on one haunch. Most everything is covered by her grey rainbow unicorn blanket.

It took me a good minute to even start to select something to post because of how obscenely good your rendering is. Wow. Your use of complementary colors. Wow. I've done only a little drawing lately, but hoof trimming is art enough too lol
