I just think horses are all trying their best, man
A goofy photo of a young baby foal with an apricot red coat, snip, and big star. He is looking at me pathetically through a fence.

I like it when we feel as if we're one in purpose, no barriers or strife. No micromanaging or chastising.
A photo of a dark brown horse in a black sidepull bridle. She is gently looking out on a small open field surrounded by oak trees.

Horses aren't "less domesticated" than cats, dogs, or cattle, this idea comes from people INTENTIONALLY leaving them feral. A couple factors are unhandled horses find pressure even more aversive, creating stronger reactions to less force, and myths about "overly" handled horses being dangerous.

The more I learn about the history behind sciences like sociology and psychology, the more I realize the excuse of "we just didn't know any better then!" doesn't hold up. People tried to study and teach better, and they got violently buried, metaphorically and sometimes literally.

It's interesting both being a "bitless, doesn't give a shit about the trends in the arena, just wants to climb mountains" horse person while also being a "goes into a manic episode braiding and currying and clipping and tail bagging" horse person both at the same time Not a lot of overlap there

Expelling one more demon of procrastination out of my body before chores by horseposting
A photo of a dark brown mare in the rain wearing blue fly boots doing done crazy rearing thing. She has a light mane and tail and is built mostly like a Spanish horse.

Beyond dominance theory just being incorrect in horses definitively, it's so myopic and cynical. It's dreary how horse people desperately hold onto such harmful beliefs BECAUSE THEY'RE REAL when it's like... what, your standard for REALISTIC!! is a fucking Zach Snyder movie?

They're just really really good dude
A photo taken from the side of a dark colored horse hoof. The horse is wearing a blue fly boot. It is freshly trimmed with a big mustang roll on the toe.A photo of the bottom of the same hoof, showing a very clean sole and frog. It's pretty wet out.

Despite popular consensus, horse diets are not up to vibes and interpretation. Oats don't soothe their stomachs. Sweet feed doesn't add anything useful. "Grain" isn't the useful part of "feeding grain", it's the fortification. All horses need constant access to forage.

The weather is beautiful, and I'm fantasizing about when I had more time 🥲
A photo taken from the back of a dark brown horse with a light mane. She's in a rainbow halter and relaxed, walking through the pasture.

"gaited horses don't collect like trotting horses!" i want to say 'i don't know where this comes from!' but i know where it comes from and it's saddleseat where even the tailset is artificial and painful anyway here's some natural collection from a gaited horse lol
A dark brown mare after the rain in a very very green pasture. She is in the middle of a canter stride with only here front right foot off the ground. Her topline is flexed, pelvis tilted back slightly, and most of the weight on her hind end. She's on the vertical and her golden mane and tail flow on the wind, even while wet.

Still thinking about how people pit the idea of science and empathy against each other. They are both required SIMULTANEOUSLY to create a better world.

When people leap into conversation on what microbes cause equine thrush with "yeast", it irritates the shit out of me because, while I do think fungus plays a role potentially, most of our current research shows the primary pathogen is bacteria AND YEAST IS HUMAN THRUSH. Horse people LEARN TO READ

There are anti vaxxer horse people who are against vaccines because they have a tiny amount of formaldehyde, but then use hoof hardeners with formaldehyde without PPE.

I am irritated that metal shoes are sold as a cure when they don't TREAT lameness, they MASK it indefinitely. The aspects of lameness where they become necessary to alleviate discomfort and pathology are better aided by composites and boots due to the latter two's fewer negative effects.

And yet Joe Rogan puts guests on who say "Vaccines aren't actually responsible for the reduction in infectious diseases.”
The image is a heatmap titled "Measles," showing measles cases across U.S. states from 1928 to 2003. States listed on the y-axis include Alaska, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The x-axis spans years from 1928 to 2003. A vertical line marks the introduction of the measles vaccine around 1963. The color scale at the bottom ranges from blue (0 cases) to red (4,000+ cases), with shades of green, yellow, and orange indicating intermediate values (1,000, 2,000, 3,000 cases). Before 1963, many states show frequent high case numbers (yellow to red), while after 1963, cases drop significantly, with mostly blue indicating near-zero cases.

Someday I'll make real tutorials instead of DRAW GOOD NOT BAD but for now I'm busy with school and just trying to dispel the idea of a horse hoof being a weird meat can
A blue canvas with purple drawings of hooves split up into "weird" and "natural". The weird side includes a bunch of drawings of mammal limbs ending in an awkward dark, shiny cylinder. The cylinder occasionally has a metal, U shaped horseshoe attached. The bottom is an ambiguous dark circle with no features. I derisively compare it to a plunger. There are many frownie faces. The natural side shows a normal horse's hoof, which has the cushy padded heel bulbs on the back, mostly similar to other mammalian feet, but with a nail covering the toe. It is more square and less tall and rectangular from the front. On the bottom, it's circular with a triangle in the middle coming from the heel bulbs and pointing towards the toe.

I've seen "My horse just CAN'T be barefoot, we tried, but he was so much more comfortable sound!" So many times followed by a video of their horse barefoot and a little tender next to a video of their horse with pain face, short striding, and all toe first landings with worse angles in metal shoes.

So many people with horses who have health problems will ask for help then, when they receive it, are like, "How I'm doing things now is the only thing that works for him!" And what they're doing ISN'T WORKING LMAO

Just because something is marketed "for horses" doesn't mean it benefits them. Feed, tack, whatever. Research it. Make sure it's actually healthy for them. And I don't just mean read off the brand website lmao

I've noticed that pop culture likes to pit science and art against one another, "logic vs feeling" and all those fun false dichotomies. Conversely, I've noticed it's much more frequent that science and art are TOGETHER against tyranny and its family of brutality, control, and selfishness 🤷‍♂️

There's a paradox in neurodivergent mental health I keep thinking about. Some people are drained by constantly being out in public but simultaneously, being human, still need social interaction. Finding the perfect balance is difficult, also requiring the right KIND of socializating.

I don't like honoring harsh horse trainers with the title "traditional". Spurs and treats, bits and brushes, have been used for thousands of years, sometimes by the same riders like Xenophon, even though the precise science is recent. I think I find "discipline" or "dominance" based more accurate.
040
Tzar @pulsetzar.bsky.social · 10/03/2025
I think my biggest fundamental disagreement with most discipline based horse trainers is that I do not want horses I handle associating pressure with fear because that causes them to escalate when they fear pressure. I want pressure to be solely associated with the behavior.

It's incredible that you can be like "Fun fact! Horses DON'T like to be punched in the face" And there's a weirdly large group of people who will storm up to you scolding how dare you accuse them of abuse and that you know nothing about horses

I love folk metal, some dude named shit like Friedrich Stämpenhoffenner will be shredding out the hardest solo you ever heard on an electric lute while their five vocalists harmonize with it using a technique unheard since the Celts in 174 BC

Wildfire is 320 days pregnant TODAY!! She is now free to foal at anytime after this date. She’s not giving anything close to imminent foaling signs, so she’ll probably cook it into March. 🫶
A portrait of Wildfire’s face and chest in the pasture facing right. She is a flaxen chestnut broodmare with straw-colored mane and a big blaze that is even visible in profile. She stares out at the other horses in pasture with ears forward and a soft expression.

Strawberry, a greying red (roan?), reaches over the bars of the fence to pilfer what she believes to be food, but I was in fact empty-handed. She has a big blaze that covers her entire snoot, ans demands to be booped with its appearance. All you can see really is her nose and lips, her right eye and cheek, and her big ears poking up from behind.

When cruel tack and riding is criticized it's frequently met with "you should focus on more important issues like horses actually being abused and starved!" And bro lmao we are. We have multiple past neglect cases on property, some severe. We are also against bloodying horses' mouths. What now.

I think it's really funny that my horse, who has no self awareness and zero concept of vanity, has the kind of hair color human beings pay hundreds of dollars for. Like she was just born like this she doesn't know anything
A photo of a dark brown horse with a blonde mane from behind. It's a gradient, starting dark and cool and getting warm and brassy towards the end. Photo of my dark brown horse with a big star from the front, her mane in braids. The base of her mane is almost black, darker than her coat, while the tips are pale bleach blonde. No I did not dye it or anything that's the point the silver gene is just weird.
