Here are the quotes Trump's NPS is trying to erase at the Bunker Hill Monument. Congress must not fund Trump's campaign of censorship.
Poster that reads "Colored Americans were here that day fighting with other patriots, our own ancestors, of whom we are justly proud and on whom we base our claim for full liberty and equality as citizens." - William Monroe Trotter, Activist and Editor of the Guardian, Bunker Hill Day Address, June 17, 1925.

"We find, upon reflection, that our duty to our country has not ended...We as Vietnam Veterans, strongly feel that the United States should cease to build memorials to death and begin to glorify life" - Arthur Johnson & Bestor Cram, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, Letter in the Boston Globe, May 23, 1971.Poster that reads, "Now that a public orator has declared that foreign-born men have no association with the men of the Revolution, it is our duty to show that in love of freedom and loyalty to the Republic, the citizens of foreign birth take no second place..." - "To Our Irish Societies," The Pilot, May 8, 1875.

"The battle is celebrated for the justice of the cause, which, because it was just, was triumphant. The woman suffrage battle is like that of Bunker Hill-not won today, but sure to be later. Meantime, Bunker Hill Monument is our Monument." - Lucy Stone, Suffragist and Newspaper Editor, Woman's Journal, June 22, 1889.Poster that reads, "The Bunker Hill Monument is finished. Here it stands...it rises over the land, and over the sea...it stands a memorial of the last, and a monitor to the present, and to all succeeding generations." - Daniel Webster, Bunker Hill Monument Dedication Oration, June 17, 1843.

"As we drew near Boston, there stood Bunker Hill Monument, towering up towards the heavens, as if in silent, bitter mockery of the millions of slaves guarded by the professed lovers of Liberty, who reared its lofty column." - G.B. Stebbins to William Lloyd Garrison, Letter in the Liberator, May 22, 1846.

Bold tile work in #Lisbon Metro system, found throughout, as with New York City. Lisbon’s is of the more “all-encompassing” type, which NYC’s #MTAArtandDesign has also embraced to great effect. Less use of mosaic and more tile there. #publicart #subway

Today's random page is the entry for the "Taller Puertorriqueno Mosaic" (Joe Brenman, 2000) www.philart.net/art/Taller_P... #Philly #PublicArt #VisitPhilly #art #mosaic
Colorful mosaic shown running from the corner of the building on the left to the left side of an arched doorway on the right, punctuated by two barred windows. Running the width of it at ground level in greens and browns are hills. Floating above the hills in the middle between the windows is a sun-like figure in yellow, red and pink with what could be eyes and a mouth. Around the yellow outer circle are small sphere-like figures. On the left and right sides are what appear to be large coqui taino frog symbols. Above the frogs and the sun are blue sky and above that running the width of the wall, reddish tiles embedded with white tiles with symbols. Around the arch of the door are red tiles with symbols. In the foreground of the picture there's a pole for a bus stop sign and sidewalk. To the left of the picture are tree and sky. Above the mosaic is a red structural awning and the second story of the building on which parts of a painted mural are visible.
