Va. calls Trump's proposed arch 'grossly incompatible' with national cemetery

Like this view? You won’t experience it anymore if the presidential arch is approved. You’ll just see a militarized structure that is a symbolic embodiment of the brand. Probably will also include a banner with his pic on it, as seen at DOJ and elsewhere. You can comment by 9/29.

If you see something, say something: two more days to comment on this overscaled arch, which would destroy views from Arlington Cemetery to major DC monuments like Lincoln Memorial. (And vice versa). See below for more info. savingplaces.org/monumental-a...

Trumpers have taken to justifying every Trump act on "national security" grounds, with some success (see SCt ruling crediting claim ballroom's "mass" is needed to protect a military facility). See also claim "arch" will be a drone base. Now viewpoint discrimination is a matter of nat'l security

Fantastic public GSA tour of William J. Clinton building, part of #FederalTriangle in DC and protected through #Section106. Murals by Doris Lee: "Country Post" and "General Store" (1938), initially controversial—too “modernistic.”

The installations represent what SMAH’s been doing really well for at least 30 years. Text labels grounded in research of experts; strong and multiple themes; books on wall at times. Much visual, sonic stimulation to reinforce textual historical material. Not strident. Balanced. #Academicsky
