Your president wasn’t elected by MAGA voters, he was handed the office by progressives who stayed home to send a message about Clinton and stayed home again to send a message about Harris, and that’s how the next Trump might be handed the office in 2028.

I literally don’t know a single woman who hasn’t been raped, stalked, groped, harassed, or sexually violated in some way at some point in their life. If you choose to doubt and dox survivors, just know every woman in your life is disgusted by you.

OBVIously it’s Tim Cook, from his Compaq days. I’m still not sure why there was a mural of him, at The National Museum of Computing, or why the mural depicts Tim Cook dressed up as that guy from the British General Post Office, who designed Colossus.

The Langley I know is the town you pass through if you’re bypassing Vancouver and headed straight for the ferries at Tsawwassen. And it’s not a generational thing; I’ve got the new Baby Queen and Fredz albums on repeat. It’s a, “Why would I follow pop culture from the USA, right now?” thing. 🇨🇦

There’s no “central office” coordinating Canadians’ pivot to alternative brands, alternative vacation spots, etc. It’s people in stores and in their travel apps making individual choices that in aggregate look like—and hit like—a movement.

You don’t need anyone’s permission to sit at home, if that’s what you prefer. But you can stop pretending I’m saying go it alone. I’m saying movements—mass action—are composed of masses of individuals making their individual choice to stand up and act together. Look north for an example.

Those two people “stopped it” for a few minutes. Those few minutes shook the world. Had either one person not acted, we’d live in a different world.

Millions of people are millions of one person each making a decision to keep acting up every single day. This is a photo of one person helping one other person make a decision. One person on the road who decided to be there with the thousands of others, and one person in the tank, who stopped.

So… stop copying everyone who stood by, and watched him do what he did. They did nothing but talk, too. They asked, “What can I do?” Then they moaned, “Well, now I have no choice but to do what they demand!” Then they cried, “Why are the allies shelling MY house? I just live here!”

Doing nothing but writing and talking, and writing and talking, and writing and talking, while your freedom is eroded, and your allies are battered into having to find new allies, isn’t how you save your country. It’s negligent complicity. “… but I complained in ALL CAPS while I stood and watched!”

But they also know that people down there in the USA will be content to sit and talk, and post, and talk, and post, and talk, and post about it online for the next 30-40 years because strikes and walkouts and *meaningful* expensive action are what other people do. “Oh no, a social media post!” 😱

I’m not laughing at you. I’m disgusted. Not at your leadership, but at the electorate who stayed home to “send a message” about Clinton and stayed home to “send a message” about Harris, and who are doing nothing but talking and posting noise, now. You want to be heard more than you want to be free.

As a Canadian, we’re disappointed that you, the general populace, haven’t had general strikes, yet. It’s like you’re all waiting for someone else there to do the rising up for you. (If it’s up to the press or celebrities to do the rising-up, then maybe only they should be allowed to vote.)

They’ll keep winning, because people keep believing that by not voting for the other parties, they’re somehow, “sending them a message!” I know lots of people up here in Canada who are going to do that, and I assume there are still lots of people in the USA who are still going to do that, too.

That doesn’t really answer the question. Why? Because people don’t know how to talk anymore. They post. So, there’ll be times when something critical is happening, and these sorts of platforms will be the only places that people talk about it.
