Delighted to have an acceptance from the lovely people at @prosetrics.bsky.social. The theme of 'whelve' really captured my imagination, and I cannot wait to share my poem 'longer days, shorter nights' with you all in their next issue x

Thanks to @prosetrics.bsky.social for adding my story to this absolutely beautiful glossy tome. The piece is a tale of cochlear implants and the maddening power of sound, and it couldn’t have found a better home. ❤️

"Sepia Days," one of my color studies, in @prosetrics.bsky.social issue #10: mirage

the cover of Prosetrics, issue 10, May 2025, featuring a close-up photo of a flower emerging from the grass

Sepia Days

white like paper
brown like bark
crumple careless

flash then dark
white like blinding
brown like spots

trending fashion
colors lost
white like snowfall

brown like leaves
what the seasons
used to be

white like faded
brown like wood
tree ring timeframe

lost for good
white like blank slate
brown like rot

now it's too late
far too hot
white like fire

brown like burned
memory is
what we've earned

Excited to announce that my first speculative short story about Lupus will be published in @prosetrics.bsky.social's "Mirage" issue! It comes out in May, which is especially fitting because May is Lupus Awareness Month and it'll have been 1 year since my diagnosis! ❤️‍🩹🥄 #Lupusawareness #Lupuswarrior

Prosetrics email: "Dear Kelly, We'd like to congratulate you on the selection of your short story, "The Other Me," for publication in our upcoming May issue, Mirage. What a beautifully penned story with the emotions expressed in such rawness and beauty. Thank you for giving us this gem. Welcome to the Prosetrics family!"

Kelly Esparza Is Agented Again! @kellyesparza.bsky.social · 21/02/2025

Sharing this poem I wrote about my boyfriend and that was published by @prosetrics.bsky.social in their “Apricity” issue because it’s my 3-year anniversary with my bf!

The Beginning of Us: My mind stuck up in the clouds,/ An orange-pink hazy daze of Imagination/ Of what could be, the possibilities/ Of a wannabe lovestruck old romantic. My heart was frost, frozen/ Until I met you./ I met you when the cold air/ Chilled my bones, when I least expected it./ Brave, is what winter made me,/ With its icy temps and rain-slicked streets./ I stuck my hand out, taking yours/ Before I could think, before I could overthink.

Then came your first kiss some months later,/ Reigniting the fire I always knew I had,/ A light flickering in my heart and beyond,/ A warmth that expanded the longer you stayed./ Like turned to Love;/ Possibilities turned to Reality. (published in Prosetrics in their “Apricity” issue)
