Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 21hWell, it’s Mahal Empire, so Madsen and Costas are almost certainly the only actors who didn’t pay to be in the film. That one scene they “shared” was definitely not filmed with both in the same room. 020

Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 22h“Every time I go on the internet it feels like my head is gonna Ex-Plode!” It was also clearly a “one take and run” film. Michael Madsen literally looks off camera wondering if they are gonna yell cut multiple times… but nope. This is all going in. It’s magical. 120
Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 22hThis film is amazing. A) Michael Madsen giving zero shits. B) “this isn’t water”. C) Rudy newscaster cameo. D) late career Costas embracing camp cheese. E) “Are you going to finish that banana?” 120

Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 23hI’m an absolute sucker for Saw rip offs, but this sadly was very middle of the road. At least have the decency to be cheesy or funny bad. 020
Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 23hI used to watch this all the time as a kid. Recorded it off the telly. I knew the song off by heart. I’m not sure I know if it’s good or bad, and I haven’t watched it recently, but: why would you hire maybe the most popular comedy duo in the uk to be your leads and have them share one scene? 🤷♂️ 030
Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 09/10/2026This and the next one (the return of Kirsty!) might be my picks for low key highlights of the later sequels. Altho they are both exactly the same film, and that film is Jacob’s Ladder. 020
Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 09/10/2026The Void is phenomenal. Like you say, Carpenter meets Lovecraft. I’ve loved all their stuff tbh. Even something like Divorced Dad, which seems like a one joke concept, goes utterly batshit Meshes of the Afternoon. They love films and they love making films, and it’s infectious. 030

Reposted by Profound UnderdogJamie @vanjpes.bsky.social · 18/11/2025The Thirteenth Chair (1929, dir. Tod Browning) is a dark house mystery film of murder, seances and secrets. A famous stage play, it has little Browning flair BUT get beyond the opening half hour and you're gifted with the answer to 'What if Bela Lugosi played Columbo or Poirot?' and it's good fun. 2153
Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 08/10/2026The one that is basically a Saw movie with Doug Bradley popping up at the end for no reason? It was an improvement on the one before and not quite the ashcan films of the ones after, that’s for sure. Cavill was clearly going to be a star tho, and Lance Henriksen is always good fun. 240

Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Definitely one of the best, possibly the best, Universal monster movie of the Standard Capital era. Some people don’t like Chaney Jr, too maudlin or dull, but I love that he plays these films dead straight. 130

Profound Underdog @profound-underdog.bsky.social · 05/10/2026The Astron 6 lads are great in general, but this is my favourite of theirs. A great giallo pastiche that nails the horror while still being genuinely funny (“Honey, I am in our home!”). Amazing it got made at all, given they ran out of money with barely a third of the film in the can. 1213
