Only 2.6 percent of registered vehicles in Massachusetts are trucks, but they account for 28 percent of cycling fatalities and 5 percent of pedestrian deaths on the road.

“If you are pedestrian or bike rider on the street, the number one danger to you at all times is trucks,” said Alexa Sledge, senior director of strategy with Transportation Alternatives, an organization that promotes better walking, biking, and public transit in New York City.

Italy announcing it will take advantage of EU flexibility to increase defense spending by .9% of GDP. This is a major shift motivated by concerns with keeping the US happy. It will most certainly factor into the 2027 elections where it is likely that Giorgia Meloni will pay a price.

VOLKER: Putin is losing in Ukraine, so the last thing he can afford to do is take on NATO. That's not going to happen. On the other hand, very limited incursion or land grab by Russia, something you could do in less than a day, just take something, stop, and see how NATO reacts.
