One of the hardest things about being a PM is context-switching. Having a birds eye view of your product and being in the weeds at the same time sucks up a lot of bandwidth. It’s tough jumping from "how does this initiative fit our long-term vision?" to "how do we fix this new bug QA just found?"

When you split your backlog into a product backlog (strategy) and a development backlog (delivery), you'll see things work a lot smoother! Why? Because each team can be more focused and it'll feel less like product management vs product development.

When you mix strategy and execution, half-baked ideas clog the development backlog and prevent focus on the delivery of high-impact changes. Development is about delivery, not ideation and discovery. Instead, give your development team the space they need to work on their development workflow.
