All sense destroyed by local journo synesthetic rage at drivers potentially being slightly inconvenienced. Good ole local press.

I used it first time the other day to turn right, bit strange as people are expected to cycle past you on your right whilst you wait at the red light, then you go as people going straight/left wait at their light I guess? Bit of a mess really, and that's before you get people ignoring the lights.

It's not being fully pedestrianised either as motor vehicles can still be driven across it at various points. Some people were suggesting it's good to have the blocks up across the road at this point to stop "cyclists", but of course, the blocks are for drivers, confused and/or murderous...

I do sometimes wonder if the political history of this period, when written, will mainly conclude: “Many people lost their way simply by spending too long on X.”

"The one thing your viewers can know for sure is that we believe in controlling spending and reducing taxes, not increasing taxes," says Conservative Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp, whose own government raised taxes to their highest level in more than 70 years, just two years ago.

South Tyneside's ReformUK Council have found savings to their budget by closing all their subsidised nurseries, but it has allowed them to cut parking charges in the town centre, where it used to cost a penny a minute to park, or £8 all day. Drivers will now get an hour of free parking.

30 years ago I was about the only person cycling to and from work. We had parking for six bikes, i never worried about getting a space. Now bike parking is half a floor. I regulary sit at lights with 30 or 40 other cyclists when it used to be just me.
