Good news: I have job... it's the hard one, but I make my own schedule. And for health: my A1C is 5.7, it's previously been 6.1-6.9 for the past three years and probably a lot longer. I lost about 30-40 lbs. I cut out as much sugar as I possibly could and it's really making a difference

Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things. Here’s a blurb on what I mean:

Some thoughts:
When using GenAi as a mood board you don't get sources. This means you deprive yourself from knowledge.
You generated a location? You deprived yourself of knowing more about the interesting parts of the world and why things came to be.
Generate an armor or costume? You deprived yourself on real world techniques, function, form and history.
You generated art inspirations? You deprive yourself of learning about artists from history or lock out living ones from potentially being hired.
Ethical issues of using GenAi models aside, one ends up making visuals mood boards devoid of reality and history. With it one deprives themselves from learning about our world and who is living in it, inadvertently making your work weaker, because of how detached it is from our shared human reality and history.

The irony of a transparency bill dying in the dark is not lost on those of us in the creative community.
Big Tech is terrified of transparency. Big Tech, who has fought us every step of the way on the Al Copyright Transparency Act, has now succeeded in getting the legislature to kill AB-412 behind the closed doors of an appropriations committee.
It should be noted that AB-412 was a bill that had no fiscal appropriation whatsoever.
This will be devastating to the creative industries, their IP, and the hundreds of thousands of creative workers who bring billions of dollars to California's economy. Creative workers are struggling, and this very simple transparency bill could have helped countless people. The issue is not going away, and delaying workable solutions for such an increasing problem will only make the situation worse for everybody.
Our coalition representing more than 3.8 million individuals, brought creative workers from every corner of the creative economy together with a unified voice. Our bill passed out of the California Assembly, four committees in the State legislature, and several hundred individuals showed up at every single public hearing to say just how much a bill like AB-412 could help them. Terrible news for Tucson, today. Two gay men were murdered in the parking lot of a gay hangout space here. The shooter died at the hospital. He had a list of gay hangouts where he planned to hurt more people. I'm devastated.

Two of my job offers want me to start Tuesday!! One is part time, remote, evening hours, and working one-on-one offering peer support and training. The other is on-site, full time, with a case load of 70-120 people, so... I'm proud I got that offer but I think I will be doing the remote one.
