CEO compensation has increased 1,316% since 1978. And worker compensation? Just 28%. The system is rigged. We need to start taxing the rich so they pay their fair share.

I headed uphill to escape the smoke of central Oregon. Here is Mt. Bachelor.
Snow freckled dormant volcano Mt Bachelor rises above a pine forest. The road leading to it curves off to the right. A ski lodge sits atop the mountain.Pine forest obscures the base of dormant stratovolcano Mt Bachelor. Patches of snow dot the peak.

Spring time gardens
I don’t generally like petunias, with their sticky squishy texture. But I live these purple spotted ones, evoking distant swirling galaxies.White speckles on a purple petunia flower like a telescope focusing distant stars

Pale yellow Aquilegia bloom hopes its grace and beauty will give you a spark of joy, rather than evoke the tragedy now associated with its common name.

southwestern desert life
It’s always called desert something-or-other. Little white daisy-ish desert star flowers peek out from the sand and rocks. Some version of aster, probably. Small yellow pin-cushion-like flowers on their relatively elongated stems poke out from their green leaves and gravel ground.Stay back from the cholla! They’ll throw those stabby pads at you!

Add shrubby branching fuzzy looking yet deadly sharp spined cholla cactus to your list of things you want to pet but shouldn’t.Two donkeys rest under a shady tree.

Calakmul, Campeche Mexico
A Mayan pyramid rises above the jungle at Calakmul, Campeche, Mexico. I visited in 2019. Unlike Tulum or Chichen Itza, one could wander at will and climb the structures. It was only partially excavated. Monkeys hopped through the trees, and wild turkeys and peccaries disappeared into the jungle. Very few tourists visited, making the experience feel like real exploration and discovery.

I dreamt that I fell and hurt my shoulder. Not a thing actually happened; I was warm and snug asleep. But now I’m awake, my shoulder is sore. Welcome to Old, I guess.

The government can find you, even off grid in the desert, and sometimes that is good.
A sandy desert with hills behind. A large rv. EMTs load an ill or injured person into an ambulance. A fire truck and an ambulance parked next to an RV in the desert. I don’t know what is happening inside. They are good neighbors, quiet and keep to themselves. I would help if asked, like to mind the dogs or drop off a casserole. I also respect their privacy.

Full moon celebration
I attended a full moon bonfire. The folks were a convivial bunch, roasting hot dogs, singing and playing guitar, howling whenever the moon came out from behind the clouds.
Someone’s black lab made the rounds demanding snacks and scritches. She climbed into my lap and tucked her head into my armpit. Whenever I whispered, “Good dog” she licked my face.
It’s difficult to photograph a black dog in the dark, so here’s a picture of the fire.

I’m good with my taxes subsidizing social welfare for people who can’t afford food. I’m enraged with my taxes subsidizing corporate welfare to businesses that won’t pay a living wage.

"Everyday People" by Sly & The Family Stone is a powerful anthem of unity, highlighting that despite differences, all people are equal and should coexist peacefully. Its messages challenged prejudice and celebrated inclusivity, as the band was one of the first major integrated rock groups.
