Hot take, the city is using Brandt as a union breaking tool.

Andrew Reist @prairiemarmot.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Pretty rich coming from a former councillor who supported the former REAL board enough to give them 300K for an ill advised IIHF bid, before continuing to pretend to appreciate their efforts and stop investigating the #expyqr scandal, only to fire them a month later. You were no better.

I have definitely made it a focus to walk more when I can instead of taking the bus. The current rate just doesn't vibe with me, but perhaps I'm alone in that opinion.

After this Brandt deal gets forced through by the technically democratic process at #yqr city hall, I better not hear of any city support for a new arena and/or a baseball field. If you don't want to be in the Rec business, stay out of it entirely #yqrcc

Mayor Bachynski has definitely received his MASTERS in being a Regina mayor. #yqr #yqrcc

We are in councillors questions during the #yqrcc exec committee, but you would be forgiven if you forgot that given how much time Semple is being given to showcase his master plan. What the?

Andrew Reist @prairiemarmot.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

Hey #yqrcc crowd. The Brandt proposal is in front of the Exec today. One of the delegations is the Roughriders. Take their opinion with a grain of salt, because remember, they threatened to sue #yqr if their rent wasn't lowered. Why are we listening to them?

Amazing news regarding Coun. Zachidniak, if true!

Andrew Reist @prairiemarmot.bsky.social · 27/04/2026

If anyone wants to register as a delegate or just provide a written submission regarding this issue or any other issue on the agenda, you have less than three hours. Currently you only have this opportunity, and the next city Council meeting to make your view known. www.regina.ca/city-governm...

Pat Book has written an absolutely essential post about the city's deal to sell REAL to Brandt over on facebook. If you have suspicions that maybe this deal is lopsided in Shaun Semple's favour, Book shows how your suspicion is very much correct. #yqrcc www.facebook.com/permalink.ph...

Former #yqrcc City Councillor once told me that the REAL Board were professionals. Now this council wants to sell the majority of land for a song. Guess they weren't professional enough....

003

Andrew Reist @prairiemarmot.bsky.social · 26/04/2026

Watch out. I don't believe this deal is good, and neither will any future deal with Semple. Remember, the city also gave him a 99 year lease for a building in the real district. #yqrcc is just as bad of a rubber stamp as it used to be.

Somewhere in the distance, when admin said this, a former member of the #yqrcc screamed "noooooooooo"

How long until we get the "laying pipe in your #yqr " ad campaign?

Check out this 🧵! It's an important message about how we should treat those who are on the other side of the fence so-to-speak.

What's everyone's bets on the #catalyst projects in #yqr with this mostly new council. I think the trail system is still going through since it has federal funding. Pool will remain unchanged. Library will move to Cornwall, but the Multi-use centre and ballpark will be deemed frivolous spending.

How dare anyone try to interview authorities on government property. What do they think we are, a free country?!?!

You know, this holiday train probably shows one of the few downsides to growing up on Vancouver Island. We settled for a decked out Cement truck... until the police deemed that illegal.

Tomorrow, the new #yqrcc will be getting sworn in. Here's hoping for less drama over the next four years than the previous four.

Vote splitting? This isn't party politics (Thank god) however wouldn't it be at least kind of funny if the votes for Bob Pearce were the difference between the top 2 candidates?

Note to self: try for that 100% rate when I post an image to Bluesky 😅. I'm probably at 20% at that other place 😮‍💨

Also, more people need to get more involved at the municipal level to keep our local politicians honest, no matter who gets in. Make sure you keep up with what's happening, so that you can at least let your councillor know how you feel, if not making time for delegations. Our city depends on us!

In two days, Regina, SK has a very important day. I hope the amount of people who vote don't follow the countrywide ⬇️ trend I've seen since I first voted many moons ago. I hope the people I vote for win, of course... However what I really hope for is a healthier council environment. #yqr #yqrcc
