Perhaps you wanted a simple tale of goodies and baddies. To me the joy of Harry Potter is that all of the characters are good and bad. I spent a great deal of time talking through some of the issues with my kids asking them if they think Harry or Hermione or Dumbledore or whoever was behaving well.
