Former poète maudit, RIP 2021. 2024-25 Pushcart nominee for most Proustean heartbreak. Montalean longing, Lorca pinning. I have to give you up again And I can't. I am after the lost sign, the single pledge you graced me with. And hell is certain

Interesting that I am not too keen in the dark imagery of Georg Trakl, but love to death poets that were hugely inspired by his work. Daniel Simko, James Wright, R. Walser

PART

Of something, separate, not
Whole; a role, something to play
While one is separate or parting;

Also a piece, a section, as in
Part of me is here, part of me
Is missing; an essential portion,

Something falling to someone
In division; a particular voice
Or instrument (also the score

For it), or line of music;
The line where the hair
Is parted. A verb: to break

Or suffer the breaking of,
Become detached,
Broken; to go from, leave,

Take from, sever, as in
Lord, part me from him,
I cannot bear to ever

OCTOBER

Black weather of night:
beyond my roof to the east,
barking migrant song:
into my head come dots
figuring dark V's and
v's: the existence,
geese and
wild.

Don't you see / It's all we can do? John Ashbery
JOHN ASHBERY

RAIN MOVING IN

The blackboard is erased in the attic
And the wind turns up the light of the stars,
Sinewy now. Someone will find out, someone will know.
And if somewhere on this great planet
The truth is discovered, a patch of it, dried, glazed by the sun,
It will just hang on, in its own infamy, humility. No one
Will be better for it, but things can't get any worse.
Just keep playing, mastering as you do the step
Into disorder this one meant. Don't you see
It's all we can do? Meanwhile, great fires
Arise, as of haystacks aflame. The dial has been set
And that's ominous, but all your graciousness in living
Conspires with it, now that this is our home:
A place to be from, and have people ask about.
