Actually pretty scary in the second half! Was shocked during that scene and really glad it was shown in shadow. I felt bad for her. She had something going on. Her and the jean shorts guy, clearly deeply repressed, they're portrayed in a funny way, but are also kind of sad. It's interesting.

First time watch of Sleepaway camp. Didn't see it for years because they way people talked about it, I thought it was mean-spirited and homophobic. But watching it now, oh this is a very queer movie. Now it makes sense. It invites ridicule, but underneath there's a strange complexity. Awesome.

Still think about when I was at a small comic convention and a seller asked me what kind of books I was looking for and I went, “pre-1970 funny animal comics”. The look of horror on his face.

Reading List 2026. For my 2,000th book, a reread of Kafka Metamorphosis, etc. Is this the greatest, funniest book or am I not well? Weak showings from Murderbot and Bobiverse. Lots of action with Shaun Hutson and Michael Cole. Doing my best to finish the translated works of Natsuo Kirino 👸📖

Bleach from 1992, a UK shoegaze/dreampop group with a bit of grunge. Not exceptional, but passable if you're into that sort of thing. Shotgun, however, will take you by surprise, mostly because dreampop does not often feature rap breakdowns. youtu.be/Kx2_81YPBZ4?...

Remember Weepuls? Those little pom-pom creatures with the sticky feet that used to turn up everywhere with no rhyme or reason? Well, they came in Halloween styles, too! 🎃

Cocker realizes the entertainment machine chews up and spits out the kind of women he writes about, and it completely triggers him, and he spends the next two albums saying supportive things. A feminist courting fame must be appalled.

As a Pulp fan, the artist’s journey of the albums is vital. The desperate teen foolishly given hope by indulgent John Peel, the surprising goth album, the Madchester one. His weird brand of horny feminism evolved. But as soon as he achieves his goal, he goes “being a celebrity is f-d up” and bails.

Sure she axe murdered up her parents, but isn’t calling Lizzie Borden a “monster” a bit extreme?

Man, this John Byrne Fantastic 4 collection is really great, I wonder if he had any extremist views. (Checks Wikipedia). Oh, that’s not good.

Milky Post Punk Twenty. Modern minimalist post punk no wave disco. Mostly female vocals (1/6 male). For fans of Delta 5, Pylon, Gang of Four, James Chance, Young Marble Giants. Lots of nice disco drumming and the errant saxophone. Length is two discs, ten bands. open.spotify.com/playlist/3Un...

Thing about Coyote vs. Acme's budget being 70 mil, is that you're telling me that THIS animation costs 50 mil? Warner Bros were doing something.

The opinion on Resident Evil (2026) I'm falling on, is that this is the "anti" elevated horror. This is a movie that makes a game out of just throwing new scenarios and monsters at the character, until it goes from quiet and snowy to massive chaos. And I kind of love it for that.

Jon Von @pnumechomppsky.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Resident Evil (2026) is a movie designed to feel like playing a third-person survival horror game in almost everything it does. It's making jokes about it, while also doing the thing. Kind of blows my mind.
