AI has not made us better, more productive, more successful or grown the economy outside of GPU sales and data center construction. It has also made the price of every single device of every kind more expensive, depressed the housing market, and increased literally everybody’s cost of debt.

It's a board game but the pieces are pork scraps mixed with cornmeal, flour, and spices, and pretty common in Pennsylvania and surrounding states.

if someone is willing to betray trans kids to get elected then there is no line they would never cross. it is the mark of somebody so tolerant of cruelty they would happily torture everyone you love if it got them closer to the halls of power

Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM

There's a thin layer of iridium-rich rock covering almost the entire world called the K-Pg Boundary. It was the first clue that led scientists to propose and then prove that a meteor killed the dinosaurs. If we're extremely lucky, that's what the 2020s AI slop era will be reduced to someday.

Whenever I'm tempted to think that a new thing seems too complicated, I read newspaper articles about pizza from the early 1950s.
"Thirdly, we had eaten too well of pizza, a curious mixture of cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms and pastry, just before the opera." Calgary Albertan, 21 May 1953."The Hot Roll mix dough needs only one rising. And there's no fussy shaping of dough. Just pat it into piepans, or roll it flat to fit baking sheets. Less than an hour after you open the hot roll mix package, your Pizza will in the oven. Fifteen minutes later, you can serve it. You can count on its being good so expect calls for second helpings!

Italian Pizza

1 package of Pillsbury Hot Roll mix
1/2 cup minced onion
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 pound Italian or other white cheese, sliced thin or grated
1/4 cup finely-cut parsley Parmesan cheese"
-Tucson Citizen, 23 Jul 1953.Serve a Pizza During Fresh Tomato Time

Pie-Like Bread Treat Is Pronounced

Serve a pizza while it's fresh tomato time. A pizza (pronounced peet-za) is like a huge pancake topped with tomato-cheese mixture.

-The Shreveport Journal, 5 Jul 1951.The pizza craze has swept over Iowa. Pronounced peetza--the dish sounds very mysterious and complicated but you can duplicate it in your kitchen easily.
-The Des Moines Register, 14 Nov 1952.
