I know he pitched an idea for a Shin Godzilla sequel but he went right back to finishing the Rebuild of Evangelion saga cause he felt bad about making fans (ie. Me) wait. By the time he was done with Thrice Upon A Time Yamazaki's film was in development. We'll know soon enough I guess.

So far the only source for Shin 2 news is some Japanese scoop movie blog so I won't get excited until Toho or an official news source confirms it. I'd be fine with Shin being a one off but also would love a sequel if Anno's involved.

Apparently Ben "I Love Ai" Affleck's new movie is just a remake of Akira Kurosawa's High & Low. Instead of watching that you should watch Spike Lee's HIGHEST 2 LOWEST which is a remake of High & Low that came out last year & it absolutely rules & it actively says "Fuck Ai" every chance it gets.

I love Shinema & SHIN GODZILLA is one my fav movies of all time and if Hideaki Anno is back writing + directing (can he do this and New Yamato at the same time?) then I am all in but pretty sure this is still very much an unconfirmed rumor for now. (Guess we'll know in a month when -0.0 comes out)

DIGGER is even more remarkable on the second go-through. The sound design and world-building is off the charts and all the performances and choices are so much richer once you know what's going on from the start. A movie made to be seen multiple times! THE movie of 2026? Maybe.

I hate massive corporations too but I remember a ton of marketing for that flick. RUNNING MAN 2025 flopped cause, like TRON 3 & MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, it was another ode to the 1980s made by & for 50 year old white guys. I mean the story is about the cultural dominace of a cable TV gameshow.

Dating myself a bit here but in high school my two best friends and I made t-shirts that the three of us would wear sometimes and I still have that shirt today and it still fits. I have been able to keep myself (roughly) 2004 Paul sized.

DIGGER (IMAX). What if I said, and hear me out on this, it's a masterpiece? The best "Do NOT shut your brain off" movie in recent years. A work of art that constantly asks you the viewer to analyze and THINK about everything the movie says and does. Incredibly awesome filmmaking! And I loved it.

One thing, among many, DIGGER aggressively (and beautifully) drives home to the viewer is how incredible of an actor Mr. Movies is! Cruise intentionally gives a very big & loud performance but there are a few moments where the mask drops and he gets to be human and in those moments you feel it!

Just got out of a critic screening. In the multiplex lobby, 10 people in their late teens or early 20s were having a spirited conversation about the movie they just watched. Grinning, gesturing, arguing, agreeing. Love to see that! I ask what the movie was. It was DIGGER, which I'm seated for now.
