Ew. TikTok is engaged in extreme theatrics. The law banning the app went into effect today Jan 19. But its parent company was not mandated to do anything. They could have let it ride - and the Biden admin made clear they wouldn't enforce the law. But what did ByteDance do? When you open TikTok now you get this message:
Sorry, TikTok isn't available right now
A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can't use TikTok for now.
We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned

It's a pure pander to Trump. To give users the sting of missing the app before Trump comes in to "bring it back."
Please recall Congress voted on a bipartisan basis to ban TikTok because soooo many serious people explain it poses a legitimate national security threat.
