Creating drama is probably part of the point. I think a lot of people just want to feel power because they can't exert it irl, and indie creators have been the target for this due to parasocial bonds people have with them and their relative vulnerability.

I think as long as there's anime boobs people will gobble things up. So when these studios that already don't care about their customers, who have a base of customers who also don't care (or are even pro-AI), and AI allows them to spend and care even less but still have a product... then yeah.

I'm sad too but I guess this is just a logical conclusion for the market. There are rough but passionate indies, but also a lot of people just taking advantage of lowered standards for ero games and the fact that they're niche. Not to say that there aren't great ero games, but still.

There's RPGmaker if she's interested in narrative games. Ren'py for visual novels. There's also games with level editors or games that are made for custom levels, but I'm unsure about which ones are the best in recent times.

A lot of the internet is paid actors or bots. On YouTube like here it's a bit trickier to track but places like Reddit it's super blatant once you start checking. I would be extremely shocked if the super pro AI comments that show up to criticism of AI aren't just bots/agents scanning for keywords.
