Watching this feels like a bunch of Slowpoke memes. Bro, how many news cycles behind are you?

Interesting. Reminds me of this part of a recent @nerd4cities.bsky.social episode on tax base fragmentation.

There's been a lot of discussions around infrastructure and culture and weather. And while all evidence points to it being an infrastructure issue, this graph drives that point home so well. The Paris one is literally an exponential graph.

It's so funny how we can read that sentence and not bat an eye nowadays.

I love how NYC-centric they are. They're about to fuck over a bunch of small towns and college towns cuz they think NYC will be the first city with a free bus.

In 2019, DeBlasio released the "Better Bus" plan, with a goal of increasing bus speeds by 25%. The avg speed back then was 8.1mph. 6 going on 7 years later, the avg bus speed is 8.3mph. @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social needs to ensure this doesn't happen in his admin.

@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social : the sweeps did nothing. I'll implement Housing First. Reporter: but if you don't brutalize the homeless, then what's the point?!

One thing I love about Disney World is how it is filled with signs that mean something somewhere, but are just decorations here.

This is all I ask. I don't ask for superpowers or impossible things. Just a desire to actually fucking do things. Why does it feel like the socialists are the only ones willing to do that?

"We have been in control of making affordable housing for 35 years" isn't a compelling message to get behind during a housing crisis.

NYC City Council is now sending mailers, with their seal, telling people not to vote for the proposals. I've never seen this before.

My TJ doesn't even have a parking lot. There's a paid parking lot in the same building though. But I've never driven there.

Someone I know took this video today. They said that the kid was riding a CitiBike while swerving. The cops stopped him and then jumped him. Full-on police abuse. @nyc.streetsblog.org @transalt.org @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

This is the ONLY way Democrats win again: if, when asked this question, they have this answer. There is no other way to defeat the rise of fascism.

It's really confusing that Cuomo is doing anti-rent stabilization, especially since it's hurting the people he lost in the primary. He won over the poor and the rich, but he lost the middle. And that middle group really benefits from rent stabilization. It just doesn't make any political sense.

I'm sorry, 8' 2 way bike lane? Wtf happened to 8 feet got one way being the new standard?!

Pedro @pjrt.dev · 05/08/2025
Pols love to ride bikes for campaign video and other announcements all the time, and it always angers me when I see them with helmets. 1. It signals that they think what they're doing is dangerous. 2. It shows that this is all for show, that they don't actually ride bikes for transportation.

My favorite traffic signs are signs that tell you that a traffic sign is coming up.

I have a lot of issues with the term "AI". It is not AI, it is LLMs, and they're a tech bubble. Also, I'm worried about how they can be used for misinformation, given that ppl trust them (see Grok). But I never considered that ppl may start to see ALL automation as "AI" and associate it with them.

I'm confused by this article. A.Adams likely got a lot of votes not cuz she had broad appeal, but because she was endorsed by WFP AND Mamdani semi-endorsed her. Also, doesn't this show that Mamdani had the broadest appeal (followed by Lander)?

"Traffic Czar" reminds me of this quote from @jskstreet.bsky.social :

Mamdani leads on all the demos he was behind on.

Pedro @pjrt.dev · 14/07/2025
The amazing thing is that they are both right, so they're stuck. Cuomo did just have his ass beaten by Mamdani but it is also true that he's the one leading the pack for Mamdani alternatives. Though idk why ppl are mad at this. We WANT them to be both on the race.

A complete blowout! And on round 3! For context, it took Eric Adams 8 rounds to cross 50%
010
Pedro @pjrt.dev · 25/06/2025
This is how Adams won, which is why all of his promises of bike, bus lanes, etc went out the window: he's not gonna piss off his constituency. The ONLY way for Mamdani to win was to significantly grow the turnout in the denser parts of the city (where turnout is usually low) He did exactly that.

Although we didn't discuss this, I found the color choices between the two campaigns to be interesting. Cuomo: red white & blue (American flag) Zohran: orange white & blue (NYC flag)

Pedro @pjrt.dev · 11/06/2025
Tbh, we should do away with conventional bike lanes and either replace them with fully separated bike lanes OR just redo the street as a shared street with heavy traffic calming. For example, why isn't this the standard for every narrow-ish intersection? Same ideas as the bike lane here.

www.nytimes.com/2025/06/10/n... Although this is something I've been telling people that Zohran has believed for a while, people didn't believe me. Well, here it is, fresh from the NYT.
