I lost $20 last night to a new licensed candidate for ministry in the RCA. I offered him 20 bucks to convincingly slip in the phrase "Eternal Subordination of the Son" during his oral exams. He did it and I'm so proud of him. ☠️ Even important moments deserve whimsy. May it abound for you!

One of the first times I saw the Obamas compared to apes, it was in a Facebook group I had been invited to join called "Eyes Wide Qpen" somewhere around 2021. Yes, "Qpen" as in, Q-Anon. The invite came from a woman I credit with instilling an "alive" faith in me when I was a teenager.

During dinner, my kid climbs in my lap and whispers: "Daddy, is the government giving our neighbors food yet?' >> "No, buddy, they still haven't." "Ohhhh but they are supposed to help!" They are supposed to help. It's the whole point of government. My kids get it; when will the adults get it?

After a funeral this weekend, a family member of the deceased told me a story which was nothing short of a miracle. (Like a real-life, "the chances of this happening are nil" experience.) Reminders about Divine connection and action in the world are a welcome salve to my weary soul these days.

Did you know? Until Constantine, a consistent restriction to church membershp was military participation and holding public office. To get baptized, a soldier or politician would have to quit their job and commit to never going back. You would be excommunicated if you went back.
