🌊 The concerning thing isn’t just that global SST is at a record-breaking +0.75°C above the 1991–2020 baseline. It’s the trajectory 🤯

Bunch of fund managers on their way to a golf trip on the train today. All dressed the same and throwing assertions around. When they stated wind turbines are ugly and environmentally damaging I had to chip in. Corrected the 'they cant be recycled' immediately. They moved on.

El Niño strengthening into unseen territory. The Niño3.4 region just reached a +3.0 °C anomaly (relative to the 1991–2020). Such a warmth has never been observed in September, and it's only a few hundredths of a degree away from the 2015 all-time record.
Nino3.4 temperature anomaly in different years. The values in 2026 are above the previous years' temperatures and close to 2015 all-time record.

I was in the Isle of Wight today to see a new R&D facility to scale up innovation in offshore wind and other major structures. Next door to a blade factory and got to see the scale of (onshore) blades up close. Staggering. No photos sadly because security.

One reason England does so well is our second generation immigrants outperform their peers which is not true in most OECD countries. We are also very good at integration. And it's v sad that this is never acknowledge in debates on immigration.

According to ERA5 global sea surface temperatures have set a new all time record. This is likely the warmest sea surface temperatures have been in at least the last 125,000 years. What’s more concerning is this will likely rise further in the coming months.

I'm mortified how many neighbours have destroyed green space for more parking. I maintain a large green space with trees at the front of my house which is their view and they still drive over it because they are trying to squeeze into tight spaces not designed to be driveways.
