want the greed to die with the generation of men who built entire systems around domination, exploitation, racism, misogyny, endless war, and hoarding wealth like dragons sitting on piles of gold while the rest of society burns. I want this era of ancient men with dead eyes and private jets deciding whether children eat, whether immigrants vanish, whether workers collapse, whether forests burn, and whether ordinary people get to live with dignity to finally fucking end.

Hyperlink text should make sense when read out of context. Screen reader users can navigate from link to link, and can listen to links in a list. When navigating this way, only the link is read. So "click here" or "read more" won't make sense.

With 3 more women killed by men in the last 24 hours, it’s a good time to remind everyone that more women have been killed by male violence since 2020 than all Australians killed by shark attacks, terrorism and one punch attacks combined in the last 25 years.

Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images. The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.

This point needs to be made over and again: The main purpose of wealth taxes should not be to raise revenue. That's a small and secondary benefit. The main purpose should be to *reduce the fortunes of the ultrarich*. Why? Because those fortunes present a massive threat to democracy and public life.

For those who remember, those who need reminding, and those who need to learn the lessons of history #auspol #RacismIsWrong #SayNoToRacism
AN OPEN LETTER TO AUSTRALIANS
31 August 1998

Racism is an unmitigated evil, it is immoral, it does Australia significant harm through Asia and in the wider world. It destroys our self-esteem and self-respect. In Australia it would pit Australian against Australian. It would be destructive of our society.

We know that politicians have to be pragmatic on many issues. They often need to adjust policy, to take into account differing views. Racism, however, is a different matter, it is beyond compromise. Once it becomes part of the body politic, it grows, and it spreads in violent and tragic ways. In Australia it was first reflected in opposition to Aborigines. It soon embraced Asia. What group would next be added to the list?

We are a diverse multicultural society enriched by the contributions made to Australia by people from every corner of the earth. There can be no place for racism in Australia.

We ask you not to forget the racist debates that have grown in Australia in recent times. At this election everyone has the opportunity to demonstrate that there is no room for racist politics in Australia.

We therefore urge you to put any candidate supporting any element of racism last in the election both to the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Signed

Rt Hon Malcolm Fraser
Hon Bob Hawke
Hon Gough Whitlam
Hon Paul Keating
