I can’t keep track of days, but I can share my fave pottery pic of the week. Take care of yourselves and do what you can with what you have. Experimental bottle - hoping it turns out more forest floor than ocean floor after firing
Reddish clay bottle with little bits and patterns added around the neck that hopefully will look like moss after it’s glazed and fired

A friend of my compared gutting of federal agencies to a wrecking a car: if you remove 30% of the parts of the car, it does not go 30% slower. It stops working.

One cool thing about the United States is that there are more people whose job is to deny healthcare coverage without having any medical background than there are people to provide healthcare coverage and they’ve somehow convinced people that the doctors are where the monetary waste is happening

I think it’s more that many people have an unconscious urge to ignore things that are too bad to be true. Working in the ER, I saw lots of late stage cancer diagnoses come about this way, too. It’s barely willful - it’s more magical thinking than intentional ignorance.

Once again I am suggesting that you break some rules for practice. Get comfortable with breaking rules. When the rules are hurting other people, the right thing to do is break them. We need people who follow their moral code over the rules of their society, university, employer, and government.

True, veganism reduces immensely ones carbon footprint, specially if we are also talking about à vegan life style and not only diet... but again many habits can be adopted to change ones footprint. Kindness and education is what brings people together and willing to change their habits.

For your gardening fun, growing sweet potatoes is pretty easy! Buy a sweet potato, cut it up, and when the “slips” or shoots have got some nice roots AND it’s getting warm out, plant them! #gardenlife #localfood #backyardgarden

I found gardening back in 2019 when I literally threw some seeds into some dirt outside the place I’d just moved to. Now I have a big garden and even bigger plans for this year 🌱 This big mama is among the last of 2024 sweet potatoes, but she will live on this year! Her slips are growing!

🎯
Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home--but not for housing.
They are strong for labor--but they are stronger for restricting labor's rights.
They favor minimum wage--the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all--but they won't spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine--for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing--but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it.
